Sears has a new Liteon brand DVD recorder, the Liteon LVW-5007 which has the TV GUIDE free programming grid and aid. That is something some friends of mine find very important (no sat or cable). It is very reasonably priced, but I will be the one who has to update their Pronto (P2) to include it, whatever they buy. Does anyone know if there are any Liteon discretes for DVD recorders? ...or anything else about them, for that matter? (To acquire the TV GUIDE grid from the antenna the unit must be turned off overnight.)
Any Liteon experiences will be appreciated. THANKS! Doug

UPDATE: I have email confirmation from Liteon that that model does NOT have an MTS stereo tuner built in (it is mono!). Drat!
What are the choices if I want a DVD recorder with an electronic programming grid (NON-TIVO!) AND an MTS tuner built in?
The model 85 from Panasonic is too expensive, as is the 720 from Philips (do they have MTS decoding anyway?). I need to keep it under about 300 USD, and I can do without a hard drive.
Any advice appreciated! Doug (upstate South Carolina)
