I have a customer with a Marantz RC5000 that is not working properly. We programmed it a few years ago. I opened TouchScreen Setup and downloaded the CCF into the RC5000. The Home Screen came up OK, but does operate properly. No IR out or page jumps. If I touch the Home Icon, a message says "Corrupted File" and then reverts to the original version of CCF. It may possible that the CCF was built in ProntoEdit and then loaded into the RC5000. I tried downloading that way and the same symptoms occur. Did the ProntoEdit version fail because I first tried TouchScreen? Can a ProntoEdit CCF be loaded in an RC5000? One of my guys did this unit several years ago and there is no info on what or how he did it. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

ProntoEdit could be used on an RC5000, but all the features of the 5000 wasnt supported.

Heres the real question. What firmware is the RC5000 running? RC5000's Could be loaded with Pronto TS1000 Firmware. and at that point would be a TS1000 and would need to be programmed with pronto edit.

This was a brand new RC5000, loaded with probably TS2000 CCF. How can you tell which firmware is loaded? It has Sys V4.8, App V5.1, MarantzV1.1 on the Setup screen.

If it was loaded with TS2000 and we opened the CCF with Touchscreen and downloaded it, would this problem occur and how do we resolve it?

Thanks for your help......Terry

It's a little out of date, but your firmware is Marantz. Latest for a 5000 is Sys 4.92 and App 5.2. Latest firmware for a TS-1000 is Sys 3.62 and App 4.85, so you can't be running 1000 firmware, and 2000 firmware won't load to a Marantz under any conditions.

Ccf's are loadable into any of the old version remotes. Doesn't matter if they were created for a 1000/2000, any of the comparable Marantz's, a Chad or RAV. You MUST, however, use the appropriate software to actually download the ccf. I.e. Touch Screen Setup for a Marantz.

If the original ccf was for a 2000, and the ccf is "corrupted" and reboots, it MIGHT be an unnamed code in the ccf. The 2000 software had a bug where if you copied and pasted a code, but failed to name it, the ccf was corrupted. I BELIEVE (but am not certain) you can use latest versions of TSS or PE to go in and give these codes a name so that the problem is solved. 'Course first you have to find them.

Well, I think App 5.1 Sys 4.91 are the most up to date Marants 5000 FIrware versions, so looks like a firmware update is in order.

The only problems that really occur between TSS and PE are if you attempt to put Timers or UDB codes into a Marantz Unit, or Multiple page jumps into a TSU. Can you open the file OK in TSS and run the Emulator? If so, I would update the firmware then redownload the CCF.

Well, I tried the emulator on Touchscreen and it also did not work, stayed on the Home screen.

After the corrupted file message came up and reverted again, I opened ProntoEdit and tried downloading a different CCF to the RC5000. It worked OK. I then tried loading the original CCF with PE and now it works OK.

Apparently, we have an RC5000 with a PE CCF.

I am not sure how this got resolved, but the info you guys provided gave me the help I needed to try some things like the emulator to help resolve which code was used. Also, knowing that the firmware was still Marantz was reassuring as well.

Thanks a lot..........Terry S
