Just when you think it can't be any simpler, some guest can't figure out how to use the Pronto remote when I'm not around.
Has anyone boiled it down to a short passage that could be printed on a label (removable) that could go on the back of the 5000?

Why not just put a "help" key on the remote? Have it jump to a page of instructions.....

Since every remote is different, have a universal "Short Passage" would be quite immposible.

Agreed. But if the system has the right components, and the remote design is laid out well, why would you need instructions?

I'm with you there, but some folks are too inherently technophobic to get the whole touch screen/intuition thing. That's who I'm talking about.
My 9 year old daughter has no problem with it. It's some "adults".
Perhaps a little spray of nitrous oxide could be hooked up...

Actually, it's much simpler than being a technophobe, I see it all the time with my students - you know, the ones that really struggle to get a passing grade. The answer is many PEOPLE REFUSE TO TAKE THE TIME TO READ. For those that do, many refuse to think about what they read. ;-(

Thats an excellent example of a well laid out panel John, Cant get much more intuitive than that....

However... What did you have to do to get TO that panel and have the Receiver, TV, and Satellite box all in the correct mode of operation? (I'm sure your going to say "I pressed Watch Satellite on the main home page")

Many systems consist of not firendly devices. Maybe he's got an old TV that only has a Toggle input select... Or other device TOADs.....

I consider myself pretty technically advanced, but I still have a hard time with some remotes the first time I pick em up.... Especially on systems that are either A: Old, B: Not well designed, or C: just not programmed well.

Exactly. The reason I didn't paste that panel is because I haven't finished it yet. But there are MANY files on the site which use this concept.

Many systems consist of not firendly devices.

The whole reason I make sure every component in the system is integration friendly before I get involved with the design

Agreed. Nice part is that any of those systems can be updated for with a more intuitive UI. Whether it be replacimg a few components, redesigning the UI, or simplifying the programming.
