Hi Folks,

For those with T1000/T2000/RC5000 models, one of the most common problems when your remote is dropped is for the L1 inductor to break and this causes the backlit to stop working. It happend to me a couple of weeks ago and being in Singapore, it was difficult to source for a new replacement Samsung screen. I was forced to try and replace the L1 inductor instead.

After a lot of digging around the net, finally found out that the L1 inductor is a Murata LQH4N561K04, this is a 560uH inductor with DC resistance < 14.5ohms.

Being a surface mount inductor, it is also hard to find as most suppliers would want your to buy them in the thousands.

The good news is that you can get a regular indctor from electronic shops, and solder it to where the surface mount Murata had broken off. As long as the inductance is 560uH.

Do you have a TS1000 or a TS2000?

Others have posted here that the part is 220uH for the TS1000; also, this value apparently does not work for the '2000.

I recently fixed my '1000 with a 220uH part I ordered from Digikey. It's not an exact replacement, and I had to enlarge the hole in the case a bit to make it work, but they will sell you one (@$0.96 each) if that's all you want. That's cheaper than ~$50 for a replacement Samsung LCD panel.

Mine's actually a European model, the model number is RU890, I believe its the same as a T1000. It has the same Samsung UG-24U01-WGHT3-B LCD panel.

How I found the 560uH value was to first find the datasheet for the high voltage EL driver used for the screen, which is a Supertex HV823 (www.supertex.com)

Yes, 560uH is the nominal value used in the test circuit (which is just the circuit they use to specify the "typical" values in the spec. sheet).

However, if you look at the application notes (AN-H33 & -H34), you'll see a range of inductor values used in different circuits. The "PDA"-type application circuit shows a 220uH L1 used.

I could measure the value of mine; it was too damaged when it broke off. But someone else did, and reported that it was 220uH. So that's what I used.

if anyone needs an inductor, i have managed to hold of 9 of them, however the are NOT SMD(surface mount) so they do need to be placed in the case very stragetically, (i cut some of my case out behind the battery, after all u cant it. lol. if anyone needs one, send me an email, £1.50 each is a fair price i think. anyway my addey is [email protected]

Reviving old thread

Does anyone know where I can get a Murata induction coil. I searched all over. Do not want to buy 100 of them. As an aside is there a place where I can buy battery door for the rc5000, my old one has a broken clip.

You can try www.servicewidetech.com for a door. They may or may not have one. If interested in picking up another gently used RC5000, PM me as I have one with original box, etc... I also have second TSU1000 DS and extra battery.

Thanks: I will try there. Which I knew you had one but I already bought a second rc5000 on the bay. I was going to try to revive the original one with a new door and induction coil just for the sake of it. I really like this remote
