I browsed through this site today and it looks very promising.

Jack,
I'm sure you're still monitoring this forum and no doubt will get this :)

A few questions:
Are you going to be providing IR code downloads on your site? If so, how are you going to get these codes? (Teaching a Pronto or some other creative method) I ask, again, for the poor hapless soles out there like me with a Sony 90ESG and can not teach a Pronto it's codes. :(

PS. Thanks for providing a place for people to exchange Pronto "stuff".

Geo,
You're right that I'm still poking around here as well as there.
With respect to IR codes, the intention is that the facilities one prontoedit.com will be in place to both upload and download codes in teh form of CCF files. The idea is that a typical CCF(like yours) would have 4,5 or more devices in it. This file can of course be pared down to specific devices (CCF's). One simply saves the CCF under each device model number as a file name, then brings up each specific file and purges the other devices, resaves, then hopefully uploads to the site for others to use. I have started addressing mfrs through Reps and directly to encourage them to do the same for their products as devices. I expect that most will cooperate as it is in their best interests to do so to help sway end users toward their equipment. There are a number of other things happening to do with "odd" codes which with a little hope will allow Pronto to further it's education in the IR department to a higher level of learning.
I expect the skinny on this will come to light in the coming weeks.
Further to IR codes, there will also be the same facility for both mfr and TV channel icons, both up and downloading(boy am I glad I've got this cable modem).
I hope this clarifies your questions and provides more light at the end of the Sony tunnel.
Jack

PS. Pronto Club members will be EMailed as updated info becomes available as this is the nest method I know of to make sure everyone sees info on a timely basis with minimal effort.

PS. to last message.....
prontoedit.com will also have search engines to make looking for codes or icons as easy as possible. I also expect that over time we'll have more than one entry for a specific model having been submitted by more than one end user.+
