First, watch your choice of words.

How did you learn these codes into your remote? What device are they being used on?

When learning, did you have the pronto connected to the pc. And learned them via ProntEdit? If so, don't. Download your ccf to the remote, learn the ir codes. Then upload to the pc to save the ir codes.

Also, when you learn the ir codes, make sure you press and hold the oem's button until the pronto beeps "OK"

Hi rob
I have tried using downloaded ccf file & my own but they seen to be as unreliable as each other
The main device is a DGtech HDTV STB
power command gives the most grief
i have in the past tried as you explained to learn the codes.Long presses, short presses etc...
press & hold the power command button manually and its ok.Put into a macro & no good
i tried making a macro with only the single power button without any delays and it failed, with delay and it failed as well, and in a full power on macro with all devices putting a 2 second delay(and the last in the chain also) hasnt helped
i have talked to other installers and they have had the same problems. The distributor carnt give me any joy as they think the product is perfect
i have been getting a lot of calls with concerned clients saying the remote works good for a day or a week then carnt operate the system anymore
i call on them check the operation and shure enough the system is RS.Retweek some files ,adjust delays etc.. upload and the system is working fine
2 weeks later........................................
thanks,Shayne

I haven't had any problems with the DGTECH 2000A. Though sometimes the power button needs a second press.

Maybe the two of you can compare a button or two's ir codes.

Post the Pronto hex sequence for the power button. Maybe it's a dirty learn and I can tell you how to clean it up. More likely it just needs to be held longer.

Depending on the signal type I can tell you and/or fix the hex code in one of the following ways:

1) Just issue the original learned signal several times in a row and it will act like a long press.

2) A cleaned up version of the signal can be used as described in (1).

3) An extender version of the signal can be made that acts like a long press when issued just once.

Those are very clean looking examples of whatever they are. I don't think I've seen that style encoding in that length before, so I wouldn't know if something were wrong with them (needing cleanup). But I doubt anything is wrong. I'm also surprised that this particular style signal would behave as described in this thread. But I'll give you the extended duration version anyway and you can test whether it helps.

Power On: slightly extended

johnsfine - the codes I posted are codes for a DGTEC and work fine. I posted them in response to the original poster who seems to have bad codes.

All the above is very nice. However. It is a little technical for litle old me however. So to be specific for my system.

I require a macro to, for instance.
1. Switch on TV. (Not a discreet on/off operation) Best way appears to Use Power button then "1" This will ensure that the TV is ON and in TV (ariel) mode.
2. Switch to AV mode. Keying the TV/AV button switchs to the previously used AV channel.
3. Toggle the AV channels to get to AV2 (Not AV2 super!). This is working fine so I wont go into details.
4. Switch on "SKY" digital box.
5. Turn Processor to correct Video Channel. (Proccessor is used for Video Switching on ALL devices and the output fed to TV's AV2 channel)

The problem that i have is at the verfy begining. The TV's Power button requires a "long" press. Programming this in a macro only gives a "short" press. This leaves me with the TV being in various states depending on how it was at the macro implementation.

So. How, in english preferably, do i force the Macro to add a "long" press to this section of the program?

Hope that is a reasonably straight forward description.
Cheers.

Before you can think about doing the macro, you must decide what signal to use to turn the TV on and off.

The easiest way is to use the codes they provided above, and to test it yourself.

Using pronto edit, you can use the existing ccf or create a test ccf.

What you should do is create a new test device. Call it "test" so there is no confusion.

Create a panel in the test device. In the panel put six buttons (you can copy them from the gallery template).

Double click on the buttons one at a time.

One of the property tabs will let you name the buttons. Name each so you know what they are:

"Clean On"
"Clean On +"
"Clean On ++"
"Clean Off"
"Clean Off +"
"Clean Off ++"

Instead of + and ++, you an use 1 and 2 or however you want to call out the differences.

One of the other property tabs will let you learn the IR. You'll have to click on "set IR" and "advanced" to bring a window up that lets you edit the raw hex code. You should copy each of the six codes above and paste them into the corresponding buttons you created. Copy Peter's on/off into the "clean on" and "clean off" buttons; copy John's "extended" and "extended more" into the On/Off + and ++ buttons.

Download it to the Pronto and go see which of the three buttons (if any) work best.

Once you have found the on/off combinations which work best, then you can worry about building the macros.

TY Dr Joe.
However One problem. I dont know if it is just my copy of RC5000 Set-Up, but it is not possible to edit the "Learned IR Code" in the "View IR Code" box.

Am i missing something here.

I have also tried the workaround mentioned in the FAQ's.
This being to learn the IR device preamble code using a short button press.
Then on a seperate button learn the repeated section. These are then linked in the macro with the repeated section (ahem) repeated as required.
I cannot get "clean" codes for the repeated section of this, and as mentioned cant edit them either.

Now what?

ryendry, you won't get too many people reading/responding to this thread as it is two years old

BTW, if you should upgrade to the newer model Pronto NG, you will find that you can explicitly specify the duration that an IR code is to be transmitted.

Upgrade! If only the department for internal cash distribution (female devision) were so tolerant.

I shall start a new thread then.

And i will get to the bottom of it.
