I was wondering if anybody had any codes and or discrete codes for the yamaha htr-5590 receiver. The remote that it came with was the RAV234. I am using the pronto tsu 3000.
Any help would be great.

I am also looking for a program that I can install in my laptop to translate ir codes. What I mean is that I want to take a remote, point it at the ir port on my laptop and have the program on my laptop tell me what code the remote was transmitting.

Thanks,
Luis
Sorry kind of new

Check the file section, read the FAQ's and continue your questions in the forum for the tsu-3000. They would be the best help for you since that is the remote that you have.

laptops and PCs generally send and receive IrDA (infrared data association), while remotes use Ir.........they are not compatible data carriers.

IrDA chips usually can be programmed to send and receive raw IR signals. With a lot of CPU attention that raw IR capability can be used to send and receive IR remote control signals.

There are various projects you can find on the web for controlling PC's with IR remotes. Some of those have software for doing the raw capture through an IrDA port. I've never had time to take a serious look at how any of that works.

What did you mean by "what code the remote was transmitting". To me that means identify a protocol name, a device number, and a command number so that a program like my MakeHex program (or Barry Gordon's similar programs) could be used to generate clean Pronto Hex, and/or the signals could easily be compared to what ccf2efc and IRTool decode from other people's uploads.

To most of the remote control of PC projects, "what code" means capturing just enough hex data from the received signal to create something with a very high probability that the identical something would be created by the same signal each time it's used and a moderately high probability that a different signal would create a different something. That's good enough for remote control of PC (you just want to recognise whether the signal you just got matches one you've learned) but generally not good enough to regenerate a clean signal nor to compare the results with data from various universal remotes, the way the decoding system Barry and I created years ago lets you compare signals between Prontos and UEI remotes, and (since I wrote CML2EFC) TheaterTouch.

I wanted to say thanks for all the quick response. The reason why I posted in this group is because I noticed that there is alot more information pertaining to yamaha receivers in this forum and since I have been able to use ccf files and or codes from this forum I figured let me go where the most information is.
As for the ir information, Thanks again, you have given me a starting point with loads of info.
Thanks again,
Luis

any addl. info would be great
