OK, this prompts the following question:

Can ProntoEdit NG be used for other products like the TSU-2000 or TSU-6000? Anyone out there know for sure before I mess up and try to use it for my Pronto Pro?
I'm just a sheep in wolf's clothing...

Willy,

This is great info. From what I read, I beleive it's a "firmware update" tool. Meaning you need this tool to get updated firmware in the TSU3000.

goodnf, I understand that the ProntoEdit NG is to be used with the TSU-3000 only. The compatibility is only to import .ccf files.

Martin :-)

Emulator's a little buggy, though. At least on XP. Hangs quite a bit.

Although system elements are configurable (enabled/disabled), it doesn't appear that placement is. Haven't tried adding custom elements to the "system template" either. Don't know if that will work.

Just been playing around for the last hour - this is great! There is some functionality that have been taken from NeoEdit (i.e. Special Action). You can also remove all system icons on the top to get full screen space. This is a GIANT improvement over ProntoEdit 5.

Martin :-)

P.S. I want one!

Full system area item placement will come later. To begin with, only enabling/disabling will be supported.

Daniel, what about a new forum for the TSU3000? I just posted a thread about that...

Some early thoughts, questions, and concerns...

The new Pronto interface, used via the emulator, looks much more capable and flexible. I also kind of like that they've gotten rid of the "Device" versus "Macro" distinction - it never made any sense in ProntoEdit and even on the remote, it was cumbersome.

However, right now I have a major concern - I cannot figure out how to get the remote to not boot to the automatically Pronto Neo-style Device Overview. True, I can have a home page and I can create a button with the "Home" special action to go there - but how do I get the remote to boot there automatically? As it stands, it appears that home pages really aren't home pages any more...

Also, neither the leftmost or rightmost button beneath the LCD (the ones which are labelled on the LCD) can be changed. I know the leftmost one we've expected is stuck at "Tools" (but the ProntoEdit help says it can be changed), but I can't seem to select either one to change it. This may be a bug...

I found a bug already. Can't seem to view an ir code. Or at least the UDB's ir code. I know that we can view them in current PE, but not this one.

Still can't hear the "beep" in the eluminator. Which would be a nice thing for me though.

Also when in the device/system properties window. There are no "ok" "apply" or "cancel" buttons. So I wouldn't know if my change took effect or not.

I am sure I would probably have more later.

More on the Device Overview versus Home issue - one of the hard buttons is defaulted to go home, and we can create our own buttons onscreen or elsewhere if we don't like that one - so I guess the important thing here is to keep in mind that the device overview is equivalent to the old scrolling device list, and *not* the old home page icon.

One thing I do like is the new page up/down buttons coupled with the page list. To me, the combination seems to work better than the old tabbed interfaces many (including me) have done. You can flip through pages easily and if you want to go somewhere specific, that's only two clicks away via the page list.

It's starting to grow on me... :-)

A few more things for me to add.

I placed a button at the very top of the screen. Added a delay. And it showed where I placed it, which was at top center just about the devices name. So apparently you can use the WHOLE screen by default.

Also I noticed under device properties, you can hide it. Hmmmmmmmmm "oh yeah I am getting it"

And under that same box there is another box saying "use this as a template only for this device. Hence we can use it for our ir codes. At least that is what I think. Although it is grayed out. But I am not using pe in advance mode. Yeap, in advance mode it is shown.

On the tree under System To system page. Well everything can be deleted at the top of the page.

Any one wants to buy my old tsu 2000????????

I imported one of my ccfs.

I was able to view my learned ir codes.

However, my ccf had timers on it. Well their no where to be found. So where are the timers for the tsu-3000????????????

From what Daniel's said, timers are coming in a future software revision. No timers for now...

This thing really is a "Pronto by Marantz", isn't it? We don't get timers, but we do get multiple jumps in macros and page history features...
