Tis a sad, sad day. After happily teaching my Beloved pronto the codes for 13 other remotes, X-10 devices, scripting macros etc, it happened.

The bottom half of the screen filled with garbage, (raster image snow looking stuff) and froze with a "Please Wait". So I waited...and waited...waited. 5...10...15...20....30 mintues. Nothing happened. Alrighty then. RESET. nothing. RESET RESET. nothing. RESET RESET RESET RESET. nothing. NUTS. Yank the batteries. Put them back in. and there it was: "Invalid CFG file. Press (something) to reset to factory settings. Oh well...we can rebuild him....better....faster....nicer layout....more macros...and soon, we will be able to back him up.

Mr. Resistor.

Mr Resistor,
Sorry to hear of your Pronto woes.
The good news is that with software you will not only be able to backup, but, mainly teach within the PC environment, then dump to Pronto so for sure you'll always have a backup.
My guess is that it may have seen some unwanted code. Did you happen to check memory status at any point (near full?).
I'd be interested.

Last memory check indicated free was around 22%. It never said it was going to do it's garbage collection. (deleted macros/buttons/layouts will be purged for good). No bigged. Just kind of a hassel.
