I am a Home Theater Professional who has programmed hundreds of Pronto's and other universal remote controls and installed hundreds of systems. Don't walk, RUN AWAY from Bose systems of all varieties. Their sound quality is inferior and value for the money is sub par. There are many other speaker systems that are low profile but deliver much better sonic performance. Now, for the poor people that already have a Bose system that incorporates the RF remote system, I do have a solution to upgrade your sound and make it IR compatible. Since most of these systems are analog and do not process digital audio, buy a new digital AV receiver and use it in conjunction with the Lifestyle system. Hook up the 5 Bose speakers directly to the new AV receiver and hook up the subwoofer output from the receiver to an input on the Bose Lifestyle system. The remote volume control for the Bose system becomes your subwoofer volume and the new AV receiver volume is the master volume control. This allows IR remote switching and volume control along with Dolby Digital sound processing from DVD's and HDTV.

Hi SVP Harper,

I am very interested in your advice. I have a Bose lifestyle 25 (12 years old). I just upgraded to a High Definition TV and would love to get (a) a universal IR remote and (b) be able to use Dolby Digital.

I can understand your post regarding getting a new receiver and plugging in the speakers directly. The problem I have is that the subwoofer has an input cable with a connector that has 8 pins in a circular pattern, and the cable seems to have 3 individual wires (assuming this is left, right and ground).

Is there a mapping of the pins somewhere so I can cut the cable in the middle and then hook it into an RCA plug for a normal receiver?

Thanks,
Onebluenoclue
Cheers

Hello,
#

Turn on the TV you wish to control using its own remote. Do not do anything else at this time until all steps have been completed. If the television was manufactured within the last 5 to 10 years, you should not encounter any problems.

Take the Lifestyle remote in hand. Locate and press the "TV" button.
#
3

Locate and press the "Settings" button on the Lifestyle remote. An On Screen menu appears at this point.
#
4

Use the remote's directional keys to scroll to System Setup. Press the "Enter" key. Go to Remote Control Setup and select it by pressing the "Enter" key.

Look at the TV Brand menu which shows up first. Continue to press the right arrow button until your television brand such as Sony, Toshiba or RCA appears. Once located, release the arrow button.

Thanks

Hello everybody,

Is somebody knows if there's a way to change the room code on a Bose RC-35T (remote from Lifestykes V25/V35). It should set as room A from factory as previous Lifestyles remotes (RC-18T/38T...) ?

Thanks
