Has anyone been able to capture the remote codes for bose lifestyle remote?

The bose uses radio frequency for remote control, the pronto is infrared, they are mutually exclusive.

In other words, the absolute only thing that'll control the Bose system is the Bose original remote.

One of many little things Bose doesn't tell you when they hype their system up.

I have a Bose radiowave CD and have learnet the remote ? maybe they have changed or is it just the lifestyle?

If you now what frequency Boses use for to the remote then I think it´s possibly if you moddify like Mr MFlanagan have done to the Pronto, to controle your Bose system.

I have a Bose Lifestyle System in the living room, a Bose Acoustic Wave in my office and a Bose WaveRadio in my bedroom, they are all linked. I live in an apartment and the Bose system, especially the RF makes all this possible with minimal effort. Yes, I lament the fact that I cannot control my theater sound with my ProntoPro but its a small price to pay.

Only the Lifestyle systems are RF, the other units are IR and can be controlled by the Pronto (in my case there is little occasion to do it because all 3 are slaved to play what is playing on Lifestyle main system).

I see no way, unfortunately, that we will ever be able to control a Lifestyle system with the Pronto. Although the ProtoPro can do RF its really only an IR extender. Now if Bose were kind enough to make a box available like the X10 system uses to convert IR to RF we would be very lucky, but I wouldn't hold my breath!

Hi everybody, please go to bose.com and take look at two new Lifstyle systems (LS28 and LS35). It looks like that IR is now included to control other components. Maybe it is now possible to control those Lifestyle systems with the pronto.

I went to the Bose site and looked at the info on the two new lifestyle systems. Although I can only go by what is there, my conclusion is that this is a one-way street. In other words, you can use your Bose remote via the Bose receiver to transmit IR codes to IR source components but that will not help us. We need the receiver to receive IR codes, not transmit them.

Further, I don't like these new systems even for the purpose intended. It appears that the Bose remote still transmits only RF so that probably means that the RF codes for the TV, VCR, DVD, etc have to be built in and they are converted to IR for retransmission at the receiver. This, in turn, means two important things: 1) the Bose remote is probably not a "learning" remote; 2) the Bose receiver probably has to be placed where it can "see" the IR receivers in the other components which would cause an installation nightmare. Admittedly I'm guessing on this stuff but in any event it is not what we are looking for.

Bose technical support told me their radio for the Lifestyle 20 and 25 operates at 27.145 Mhz. Does that help anyone come up with a solution to this annoyance?

Let me be the one to answer this question with complete accuracy.
You are correct, all previous versions of the Bose Lifestyle systems, including the Lifestyle 50, 40, 30, 25, 20, 12, 8, 5, 3 and all previous versions of the Bose custom installed “BUILT-INvisible” line all use RF to communicate with the Music Center. Other remotes that use RF will not be able to control these systems because these “RF remotes” use RF to communicate with their own proprietary base units, these base units then convert this RF signal back into standard IR commands. Modifying a Pronto or other device with an RF modulator will also not work.

I can confirm for you that all NEW Bose Home Theater systems, including the Lifestyle 35 & 28, the Bose 3-2-1 home entertainment systems and the new BUILT-INvisible Home Theater products have the ability to be controlled via IR.

Here's how each system works:
The new Bose 3-2-1 Home Entertainment system uses a standard IR-based remote that can be taught to any “learning” remote.

The Bose Lifestyle 35 & 28 use an "RF" remote to communicate with the new DVD-based Media Center, when the Media Center receives a command from it’s remote for a programmed TV, VCR (incl. TiVo & Replay) or SAT/Cable box, the Media Center will send out a VERY strong IR blast from the front of the Media Center. This IR blast is strong enough to bounce off adjacent walls and control components that are even located on the same bookcase, without direct line of sight. If some of these components are hidden away in a cabinet, the user can connect the included IR-emitter from the Media Center to these components. One other note worthy feature that is not available on any other complete home theater system is a “TV sensor”(included) that will act as a gatekeeper for IR commands. If the TV is already powered ON and you select the “TV” or “DVD” button on the remote, it will block the “TV power ON” command from being sent to keeping the system in-sync. (this means absolute reliable operation)

The Lifestyle 35 & 28 also has the ability to be controlled by an IR remote, by simply enabling this feature from the on-screen menu. Since the remote control does not output the IR signals you will need to hold the learning remote up to the front of the Media Center’s display then press the desired button on the RF remote. This will tell the Media Center to output the appropriate IR command to be learned by the learning remote..

The brand new Bose BUILT-INvisible home theater systems (TS-600, 400 & 200) also have the ability to be controlled via standard Bose RF remotes or programmable/learning IR remotes, but must be designed and installed by an authorized Bose custom dealer.

I hope this has helped add clarity to this dilemma.

I've grown tired of using 2 remotes with my system, the ProntoPro and the Bose RF, so I ordered the new Bose 35 Theater System. I'll hold you to your claim that I can control it through the ProntoPro. Naturally, I confirmed your claim with the Bose technician before I ordered it but I always take what Manufacturer's Techs say with a grain of salt.

If this indeed does work, the next version of my color CCF on this site will include the Bose device codes. I printed the PDF manual from the Bose site and already suspect I may have some problems with discrete codes but we'll see!

Please see DJ2's post above. I don't think the Lifestyle 50 can be controlled by the Pronto. Certainly my old Lifestyle 12 cannot. It is why I just bought a new Lifestyle 35.

By the way, in keeping with my previous post above, I have the Lifestyle 35 but it is still in the box waiting for the arrival of my new Plasma screen so everything can be installed at once. In the meantime, I have created the graphics for a Bose device on a ProntoPro ccf. Once the Lifestyle 35 is installed I will have it learn the IR codes and upload it to this site. I hope this will happen this coming week.

Early versions of the Lifestyle 28/35 have been reported to have difficulty outputting a valid IR command (to a learning remote) for the "DVD/CD" and "AM/FM" buttons. A fix is expected.
Also, it is my understanding that the only way to learn Bose IR commands into a learning remote is to connect the included IR emitter to the Media Center and use it to blast the Pronto's IR receiver.
