Will the Marantz RC5000 fix any of the problems/concerns from the 2 month follow up by Daniel?

I here it will be available after the big CEDIA show in January.

Any other differnces expected that might make it worth waiting for?

As I understand it they are virtually identical. The only difference is the Marantz comes with the 4.6 Volt rechargeable battery and cradle and is Gold tone colored.

I think it is totally unclear still as to when the Marantz RC5000 will debut and what exactly will be different about it, if anything, other than the case plastics and packaging.
I would suspect that it will likely be manufactured in the same Philips facility as the Pronto...Why run two product lines and have two sets of molds...just insert a different color raw material I would have thought.
I also suspect that the software will be alike a bit like the Madrigal vs HK units. They are identical internally with only software differences based upon the CD ROM that comes with each of them.
And, my expectation is that no matter how hard any mfr tries, the software will get onto the web in some way so anyone can use either flavor.

p.s. I think you mean the Winter Consumer Electronics Show (WCES) Jan 7-10, not CEDIA (which is usually around September time)

I sent an email to Marantz asking when the RC5000 would be out. Here is their reply: (See my questions below)

The RC-5000 will most likely now be shipping in February or March. Marantz decided to upgrade the software at the first of the year and release in the first quarter of '99.

Does this mean that the programming software won't be out in early January?

Is there an actual software upgrade (OS) that is being done for the Pronto. If this is the case, how can I get it when it comes out, and what will it be fixing?
