As a complete novice, it took me a while to figure this program out. Here are some tips that may help other novice users. More advanced users should feel free to fill in the blanks. Maybe this can be the start of a basic set of instructions. A quick start guide if you will. It may help out until Leo does his own set of instructions! Great job with the program Leo. Once I got it figured out, I was elated! Very cool. Again, someone very familiar with the program could probably edit this and make it much more useful. But here ya go...

1. Download the Super-Nudelist Beta 4 -- version 1.9.9.4 at:

[Link: ox.compsoc.net]

2. Download the CCF Decompiler & Compiler (v0.45ß) at the following site:

[Link: remotecentral.com]

3. Also download the following *.dll at this location:

[Link: remotecentral.com]

(if these URL's aren't clickable, try cutting and pasting them into the browser)

4. Make sure you unzip everything you have downloaded to this point in the SAME folder.

5. Make two copies of the ccf file you currently use. For this example, I will call the first copy something like Main1.ccf, and the second copy Main2.ccf (this way you don't mess up your original ccf if something goes awry)

6. If all files you downloaded earlier are already unzipped and stored in the same folder, launch the SuperNudelist application by double-clicking the file SuperNudelist.exe

7. A window will come up. You will see blank boxes for the "input" and "output" files. Click the square icon with the "..." next to the boxes and select "Main1.ccf" for the input file, and then select "Main2.ccf" for the output file.

8. Select the "Devices..." button. Click "add". Select the device in your ccf that controls the CD Changer, then press "OK". (In my case, it was called simply "CD" on my ccf file. When I originally added the CD to the ccf, I also added a full keypad with #'s 0-9. This will allow me to map each number that the SuperNudelist will use to select a specific disc with the actual IR code for that number on the CD Changer.)

9. A window will come up with two basic sections. On top is the "General" section, and below is the "Button Mappings" section.

10. In the "General" section, the only thing I needed to touch was the "Jump" section. Click the icon next to the "Jump" box. This will list the various devices and their associated control panels within the ccf file. Open the device first ("CD" or whatever you named your CD Changer). Then select the specific panel you want to jump to after you have selected an album. I don't believe you "must" choose the CD Changer. I believe this just tells SuperNudelist where to jump to after you have selected a disc. For example, if I select Pearl Jam, then the album Ten, the display will jump to the CD Changer keypad. This is assuming I have selected "Pad" as the specific panel within the "CD" device in the ccf ("Pad" was the name I gave the panel within the CD Changer to represent the keypad). I may actually change that to "Transport", so that when the album is choosen, I will jump to the CD Changer's Transport buttons instead. That may make more sense.

11. In the "Button Mappings" section, you are basically indicating to SuperNudelist which button the program should be pressing "before" it sends the numbers associated with a specific disc, and which button it should be pressing "after" it sends the disc number. In addition, the program will need to know which buttons to press for all the numbers (0 through 9) that may be needed to input a disc number. Once all these buttons are mapped, the program will be able to take a disc you have entered as Pearl Jam, Ten, #132...and automatically send the "Disc" command, then press "1"..."3"..."2", then press "Enter". The exact commands for your CD Changer may be different though, so make sure when you are mapping buttons, you are mapping the correct ones. Normally, the numbers will be the same, but instead of "Disc", your CD Changer could require that the "Input#" key be pressed. Get the idea?

12. Start mapping buttons. For example, I needed to have the program select the "Disc" button prior to entering the numbers associated with a disc. So I pressed the icon next to the box for "before", which brings up your device window. I selected "CD", for my changer. I then selected "Pad" for my keypad panel (which contains the "Disc" button). Then I selected the actual button within the keypad panel labeled "Disc". Now the program knows that before a selection, it will press the button you just mapped to, which in this case is the "Disc" button on the keypad panel of the CD device. Do the same for the "after" button. In my case I mapped "after" to the "Enter" button on the keypad panel of the CD device. You also need to map each number, so that the program knows what button to push for each number when it enters disc numbers. In this example, I mapped the "0" box to the "0" button within the keypad panel of the CD device. Once all the functions within SuperNudelist are mapped to the appropriate buttons, hit "OK". This will bring you back to a small device window. Hit "OK" again. You are now ready for the next step.

13. Now you are ready to compile your CD list. Hit the "Lists..." button. Click "Add list".

14. Under General, you are asked to give this list a name. This name is what will actually appear on your ccf file as a new device. So name it something like "CD List". On the right side, you can also map individual functions as you can with other devices. So you can map the receviers volume control so that when you are on a SuperNudelist screen, the volume hardbuttons control the receivers volume. This is optional. Press "OK" when done.

15. Now you are in the "Edit Lists" screen. This is very simple. Simply click "Add Artist" to put a new artist in. Once you input an artist, you will then see options to "Add Disc". Make your list and move to the next step by clicking "OK".

16. Now you are back to the original screen. Click the "Execute" button and the file that you specified as the "Output" file will now be modified and will contain all the artists and albums that your list contained. Load the output ccf into the Pronto and you are done!

Great stuff! It's very kind of you to take the time to write a detailed, easy to follow guide like this for other people after you've worked it out yourself. Thanks!

Just for completeness:

Step 2 (Download the CCF Decompiler & Compiler) is not required if you just want to use Super-Nudelist as only the CCFDll is required.

Step 5 is not required as when selecting the output CCF you can specify a filename that doesn't exist.

Also, several people have asked what to do if they need to press more than one button before or after the disc numbers. In this case you should create a button in your CCF (probably on a hidden panel somewhere) that does whatever needs to be done and then select that in SuperNudelist.

The Obscure Features section of the SuperNudelist webpage should also be read once you've got to grips with the basics as described here.

Thanks again Michael! Assuming you don't mind, I'll put a link to this thread on the webpage next time I update it.

Of course I don't mind. I am glad to be of help. I am sure you spent just a "bit" more time developing the application than I spent writing some basic install instructions! ;-)
