As far as ir strength is concerned on the Palm there is an ir extender that I have been using for quite some time, that works great.
If fact this product was discussed right in this forum.
You can read about it [Link: remotecentral.com].
By the way this device fits perfectly on a Palm 3 without any of the modifications discussed in the above mentioned thread.
As far as the software I assume that you have not tried the ORDesktop software.
With this wonderful piece of software you can easily create, combine, and exchange pdb.files for Omniremote.
Also ORDesktop allows you to import any Pronto code from the files area here at Remote Central, including discrete codes.
ORDesktop also has the codes for hundreds of devices in the form of pdb.files that can be used to control your equipment just by opening the file in ORDESKTOP
file.
ORDesktop sells for $20.

Very interested in the post from Cary Gerber about the linux based pda. I've needed something like the pronto for months but i've been waiting for the 2Mb version ( I live in the UK ) and I still don't like the fact that 0.25 of the screen is not available for customisation. Where can I find more info ?
