I am new to the HTPC realm, so please bear with me. Have a situation in a clien't home where they have a TV outside thier equipment room in a gameroom. The TV is connected to the HP PC via VGA port as well as the mono plug for audio. The HP also has an HDMI port, and the HP is connected to the receiver in the equipment room via HDMI and the receiver is routed to the TV upstairs. The client can watch TV in the gameroom via VGA perfectly, but the connection from the HDMI port to the receiver HDMI port is showing up as "no signal" on the TV upstairs.

I have tried disconnecting the VGA, but since its an analog connection it obviously didn't matter. I just basically can't get the receiver to process the PC signal and output to the TV upstairs. Is tihs possible? Do I have to bypass the receiver and run it directly to the TV upstairs? Or is there some setting I need to set on the receiver or TV upstairs, or even the PC?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, hopefully an expert on the video card capabilities of a PC and the ability to watch it on a TV can help.

Thanks,
Jimmy

I am no expert but in my experiences this sounds like the video card is not HDCP compliant.

In some cases the PC direct to the TV may work.

Gefen may have a product to help with this issue.
