I need a remote control device that will convert HTML to IR. I think it would need to be an IR module with registers that hold the IR code, with an embedded webserver front end. Using WiFi I bring up the page select the IR function I want and an IR code is sent down the emmitter to the equipment. This would work anywhere there is a WiFi network or ethernet. It would be cross platform, any one could program it, and it could control anything that used existing IR. Companies are running round making different remote controls for this and that but most cost too much to buy and take hours to program. With HTML you can you can do any thing. Any ideas anyone, Daniel?

Check out the forums over at www.Promixis.com . I think Girder may be the program you are looking for. You basically tell girder what to do when a particular "command" is received. Post your question in the girder forum and I bet they can help you out.

Take a look at this product i think this fits your requiements and the device is not that expensive. WACI NX Jr or its big brother with more IR ports (WACI NX +) it has a built-in webserver and Programming is as easy as writing web pages with off-the-shelf content creation applications such as Macromedia Flash™, HTML, DHTML, SOAP, XML, CGI, RPC, and Visual Basic®

How much is "not that expensive"? They don't list any prices.

Gotta say, WACI (aurora Multimedia) units are pretty sweet units, for the price. We worked with them trying to OEM some units and they are pretty easy to use. Made Flash pages that interact with the units and it was working nicely.
The price is the only drawback... I am currently working on finding a cheap source of something for my personal theater.

This is exactly what I was looking for.
I am in the process of designing an Iphone app to control both IR devices in a home theatre enviroment, as well as apps to control the security cameras, and Lutron lights and shading in a home enviroment.
So having a webserver that can control both serial commands and Ir info is perfect.
I'll upload some beta tests of the apps once I get them in that stage :)
