I cannot get my URC-9800 to control my Yamaha RXV992 Reciever(1998 vintage) no matter what I do..
I have been told the proper code is 0176, but my Yamaha will not respond...It will also not learn directly from the Yamaha factory remote

Excellent question. Same problem here with the 992. I've tried 3 remotes with the latest being the Radio Shack 15-995, including the possible book codes, additional codes from the 800 number, and the search process. Sorry, I haven't been at this site before...if I seem ignorant on what's happening here my apologies...but would love to have some input on some universal remote that might bring this Yamaha to life.

I just got my Cinema 7 a few weeks ago. I too have a 992 and its a pretty decent unit. I have entered code 0067 which permits Volume, Effect & several input choices to work. Now to turn the 992 On and Off. I had use 1L and 2L respectively. When choosing an input such, as DVD which is no5, or VCR1 which is no2, etc. I failed to raise the very important TV/DBS mode. So 3L was chosen to learn that. I still have L4 available for learning from the dedicated 992 Remote AV 130. By the way is the Av 130 capable of learning anything? I can't find my booklet. Can the two Cinema7 Macros' be stretched to more than 2 choices? The Macro is set for turning on my SONY TV, 992, Hughes DBS box and all with the proper inputs. This one button stuff is so neat. I trust this helped you somewhat.

Thank you for the response on this. It's refreshing to know that someone has worked something out on the 992. I haven't been able to get the 0067 code to work with the Radio Shack 995, but I'll keep trying, and may consider the Cinema 7 if nothing can be worked out otherwise...moderate luck is better than none at all...

Oops, I just blinked back the code for the 992. It should be 0176. Sorry

Hi, I posted the following message to another Yamaha problems thread but realised it may be appropriate here, too.
I'm also having a problem with my new Yamaha RX-V496(which I assume is much like the 596). The
suggested codes for the 15-1994 are 0176 and 0186, which I have been attempting to use with Aux1.
I get no response from either. When I finally managed to get through to Radio Shack, they offered the
following codes as options: 0081, 0082, 0142,0176, 0186, 0293, 0476 and 0712. None of these
worked. I also have searched through the entire set (at least 200 clicks) but have found no code that
works. The person at RS indicated that her 15-1994 generated the double blink only on 0176 and
0186. I'm wondering now if my own particular unit is faulty. Does anyone get the double blink on
these codes (for Aux1... or anything)?
I have another question. On the logic that tuners and cds were in the same family of devices, I tried
the search using the CD input and found a code which turned on (and off) the Yamaha tuner-- 0187,
which turned out to be one of the identified codes for Yamaha CDs. Is there anything I can do with
this?
cheers,
mike
