After reading many of the posts here, I picked up the RS 15-1994 last night, and am now trying to decide whether to return it. The problem is that I have had no luck finding base codes for my Sherwood RD-7106 A/V receiver or my Aiwa XD-DV370 DVD player. Although I have been able to have the remote learn the important codes, I don't think it has enough memory to learn all the buttons on both remotes. I tried the 800 number in the manual and they gave me several codes, most of which wouldn't even be accepted by the remote, and none of which worked. Both the Aiwa and Sherwood are new units introduced within the last few months. Any info or ideas would be appreciated.

The code you need for the Sherwood is 0490, but it was dropped from the 15-1994. The code is in the OFA Cinema 7, so you might want to consider getting that remote instead. As for the Aiwa DVD, I have never heard of Aiwa even making a DVD player, so I have no idea what code they are using in their signal. I doubt that you will find a device code for the Aiwa in any universal at this point, it's just too new.

Hope that helps,
Rob.

Thanks for checking for me. Can't believe how many people you help here and with your site. The Aiwa unit, although only $220, has gotten some good reviews and is being pushed by Circuit City. It plays MP3's like the Apex without some of the problems of that player. I will have to decide whether I can do without the backlighting on the Cinema 7. Evenso, I would have to learn all the keys on the Aiwa remote, and no matter how many times I try, I can't get the pause key on the 1994 to learn the Aiwa code. Maybe I will wait for the MX-500, or see if I can get an older Pronto cheap when the new units come out.

Actually, if you're thinking of getting a Pronto, you can get the current model cheap now because the new ones will be coming out soon. The MSRP for the Pronto is $399, but you can get it at http://www.etronixs.com for $265 w/ free shipping.

For what its worth, I have the Cinema 7 and Aiwa DV370 DVD and I also could not find a code to work with Aiwa DVDs. I have managed to program all of the functions I really use via learning, but it sure would be nice to not have to use nearly the entire memory just for the DVD. That is find a code that partially works and program the rest with advanced codes.

If it helps any, in searching around the internet I found a copy of the Home Theater Master SL9000 manual and for that product it lists Aiwa DVD as 004. Perhaps someone with more knowledge than I have could cross that code over to an equivalent or at least nearly equivalent Cinema 7 code???? Or at least to a code that uses the same format so that I could manually search for the advanced codes...
