Hi. I am thinking about buying one of these remotes for a relative. Does one of these work better for Dish Network Satelite receivers than the other. He also has a Magnavox TV, Magnavox cd player, and Magnavox VCR. Thanks.

If the dish in question in the Echostar 7100 or 7200, then neither of them has a device code for it, if it's one of the older models then there is a code in both remotes.

I'm using a Cinema 7 with code 0775 on Dish Network Model 4722 and it works great.

I just purchased a 15-1994 and I can't get it programmed for my Dish 3000. I tried the codes listed in the manual and also the codes listed at hifi-remote.com and still couldn't get it to work. I called the help number listed in the manual and was told that I needed the 15-1925 modem type remote. I then found out that this is a discontinued model. Luckily, the fine sales associate at Radio Shack did a search and found one of these remotes for me at another store. The retail price was $79.95, but it is listed as $19.95 now. I guess my question is, will the 15-1994 actually control my Dish 3000 and maybe I am doing something wrong in the programming steps or do I need this 15-1925 remote? Which model is the better remote?

Jon,
Did you try programming device code 0775 on the cable button. This code is definitely in the 15-1994, so if you get one long blink rather than two short ones, you are doing something wrong.

But, if the 0775 code is accepted but still does nothing to control your dish, then you might be out of luck.

Here's the deal with the 15-1925 remote. It has the internal modem that you mentioned, which is great because you can always call and get new device codes added, and it has an RF extender, so you can use it from another room to control your system, but it is an old-fashioned style remote, which means it does not have menu arrow buttons. Plus, it does not have learning abilty, so you will need to find device codes for everything, but you can use advanced codes and key moves.

It has the four main transport keys (play, stop, rew and ffwd) arranged in a kinda circle, so you could use these for the menu arrows if you don't need transport keys.

Hope that helps,
Rob.

The problem I was having was due to the fact that I was using an extra Dishnetwork UHF remote to control the 3000 receiver. I had the address of this receiver and remote set at an address different from the receiver in the living room so it wouldn't interfere. After I changed the address back to where it should have been, address 1, the 15-1994 accepted the codes and now works fine. I guess when I got this new toy I was so excited that I forgot about the address situation. Thanks for the input and the great information.

I have a jvc 4000 satelite system The 3000 system works fine with the 0775 code, but the 4000 system doesn't seem to accept this code. Is there another code that I should be using ? Thank you

Paul,

Is the 4000 using address 1? I don't think the 1994 does anything but that address.

If it's already at address 1 and it still doesn't work maybe your 4000 doesn't have the IR parts built in. Do a search on Carlton Bale for information on kits to add this capability - I did it to a 2000 and a 5000.
