Could anybody please tell me if there is a difference between the av producer 8 and what I've seen labled as the AV Director 8? I've ordered one from a retailer thinking I was ordering a Producer 8 but I've just noticed that the bill I have says AV Director 8. If you could help me I would appreciate it. I'm new to this universal remote thing and would like to know if I'm getting screwed here or not. Please help me out if you can.
Thanks in advance,
Lance

There is a new OFA remote called the Director, but it costs $400 so I doubt that you are getting one of them, my guess is that you are getting a Producer 8 and the retailer has simply mis-labelled the bill.

Unless, you are really getting the new URC-8780 remote, i don't know what they are calling this remote.

How much are you paying for it? If it's around $80, then it's probably the URC-8800 (Prod 8), if it's around $50, then it's probably the URC-8780.

Thanks Rob. I am paying about $115.00 Canadian. You mentioned two different models, the URC-8800 and the URC-8780. Could you please tell me what the difference is between the two? I was under the impression that there was only one model of the Producer 8. I would appreciate any thoughts or advise that you or anybody else could provide. Again, I thank you for your help.

As the model number describes, the 8780 is basically a slightly cost reduced version of the 8800. No "Home Theater" device. As Rob mentioned, we're not sure what the 8780 will be called, but there's also these versions of the Producer:

8080 - A/V Producer 8, Non-Learning
8090 - Home Producer 8 w/RF, Non-Learning
8800 - A/V Producer 8, Learning
9800 - Home Producer 8 w/RF, Learning

Thank you very much Daniel. I really appreciate your help and prompt response. This site is great. I've received more information and help from you guys than I have from the OFA website. It's absolutely useless. Agan, I thank you.
Sincerely,
Lance
