In reading some of the messages on this board, I've seen references to a "learning" Cinema 7. I just purchased a Cinema 7 @ Wal-Mart for $16.50 and nowhere in the manual did it say anything about being able to "learn" codes. Is this another model or can mine do this as well? Just wondering...

Mark,

There are two models of Cinema 7, a model 7200, programable, and a model 7800 learning and progamable.

I recently bought a 7800 at Circuit City for $20. Have seen in this forum references to other retailers for around the same price.

J and R music world has them online for ~$25.

Great remote, also the Radio shack 15-1995 is an undercover Cinema 7, learning w/ backlighting and is onsale at RS for $29.

Hope this helps

I have both versions of the Cinema7 - learning and not. I've found the non-learning model can do most of what I need. If you email OneForAll, they'll send you a list of the extra "magic" codes for your equipment, and learning is not all tha necessary anymore...

The learning model does have the 4 extra "L" keys that I use as extra macro buttons.

That little remote can do amazing things for the $16 you paid for it.

If you decide you need the learning function, you might consider keeping the old one for automation purposes. Take it apart and solder wires to the Macro button pads and connect to an X10 module to give you X10 control over power-up and down.

Also, in a never-ending quest for perfection, I'm considering the Radio-Shack backlit model...
