Hi,
I just purchased the a/v Producer 8 and I love the
look and feel of the remote, but I am having
dificulty with the learning feature of the remote.
It won't learn from my Sony TV remote or from my
Toshiba DVD remote. I tried all different ways
recommended on this site to no avail.

I have a 10 year older Memorex universal remote that learns just fine from these remotes. As a matter fact, it learns very easily.

Is this a known problem of the a/v Producer 8 or
do I have a bad remote?

Any help or comments apprecieated.

Have you found device codes that work some of the functions of these devices, if so, you can most likely program all the missing buttons using advanced codes. The codes and instructions on how to program them are on my site.

The learning feature of the Producer 8 will only learn to the 6 dedicated learning buttons, rendering it pretty much useless IMHO.

I have found the device codes for all the devices.
I also tried to do some key mover functions, and it
seems like after I do another learning/advanced
function program, it forgets the keys moved.

I think I have a faulty remote, I decision right now
is to return the remote.

Thanks,
Reji

I picked up a 8800 for dirt cheap. I already have the 7800, and love the programmability of the buttons on the 7800. Is it possible to do the same with the 8800? The 6 buttons for the learning just doesn't cut the mustard because I'm used to how easy it was to reprogram the buttons on the 7800 if I knew the codes for the functions I was programming the button for.

I have tons of advanced codes listed on my site in the "Advanced Code" section, funnily enough, and the instructions on how to program them using the URC-8800 are in the URC-8800 manual, also on my site.

I had the same learning problem with 7800. Then I found if I clear the button first it worked fine. You should try that.

I recently received a One For All Producer 8 urc-8800 as a x-mas gift. The hi-fi.com site help alot!! But I'm still having problems programming my cd player which is a Sony CE525 and my direct tv sat. receiver. I went thru evry list including the list in the remote but to no avail. But with the direct tv sat receiver (RCA) i think I may not be getting the pre-programmed list inside the Producer 8 because when I hit the cable/sat button only cable comes up I can't get sat to come up. Any help would be appreciated Thanks
