I am putting this question on both the One For All Forum and the Universal Forum, since a solution might come from either one.
My mother is in a nursing home, and has trouble using the remote which came with her TV, a RCA. I suspect that the real trouble is that the IR beam is too narrow, plus her vision, coordination and mental acuity have deteriorated. While she was in the hospital, the TV there used a One For All wireless remote with just 5 buttons (channels, volume & power), which would be ideal. However, I cannot find this remote or anything like it, anywhere. Does anyone have any information or suggestions on purchasing a remote which would meet these requirements?

Radio Shack has a simple remote with 5 large colour coded buttons. Product #15-8926. It's on their Canadian website but it's probably available in the US too. No idea how well it works.

Radio Shack has a remote here called 15-1990 that only has a few buttons, and R/S remotes generally have excellent IR beams.
