I'm thinking about buying a Sony receiver (STR-DE445 or 545 or 845). I'm wondering if anyone can give me any feedback (good or bad) about how the Radio Shack 15-1994 works with it. I'm pretty happy with the remote and i want to make sure the receiver i buy has no problems being operated by it. Thanks.

You will be able to operate everything, except the dsp sound modes, equalizer, and setup modes (and things like dimmer, etc). I have a Sony 333ES, which uses the same code. But, overall, it operates it well. I use it instead of the remote that came with mine.

For what it's worth, if you can spring for a DB830 or DB930, if they are still in stock (even a demo unit), or the new DB830 or DB940, you'll get a much, much better receiver that will last you much longer and sound a whole lot better!!!

I've owned the cheaper models and the DB and ES models are far superior!!! FYI!!!

For what it's worth. I have an older STR-525 and my I was able to transfer all the buttons I needed to the 15-1994. I had to "learn" a couple of commands like DSP selection modes

Kevin: The DSP functions on the new Sony receivers are difficult (most can't) to learn on the 1994. If you find out or anyone finds out how to program the surround modes from recent models to the 1994, let us all know.

Greg :-)
