One-For-All proponent that I am, I offered to furnish a replacement remote for a TV and VCR at my girlfriend's parents' house. At Sears I found the Big Easy HT, which is like the Cinema 7 minus learning or a CD device button, but with a useless digital clock that does nothing at all.
Anyway, I got the TV and VCR programmed, including EFC's, in no time. But they also have a satellite receiver which seems to be an MPEG-2 DVB box.
The receiver is made by Samsung but the original remote is branded by Alphastar. The listed device code for Alphastar DSS (0772) does nothing, and there is no listing for a Samsung receiver. Code search does not seem to give me any hits.
(Yes, I know I should have searched for another Cinema 7 and simply learned the commands from the original remote, but...)
I've emailed UEIC but in the meantime was wondering if this rang a bell with anyone.

try the gi codes 0627 0361 or 0869

though alphastar went bankrupt two years ago. I cannot figure why they even use that other than a paper weight.

Thanks for the suggestion, but the General Instrument codes don't work with this box.
Regardless of the status of Alphastar, boxes compatible with this system are obviously still in use; in this case for specialty ehtnic programming not carried by the major DSS providers.
A specialty item too - I guess it's not surprising that it's not covered by the canned device codes in ROM.
