Please excuse the duplicity of this posting. I just found this forum.

I just purchased the older non-learning Cinema 7 (7200). I cannot get it (or any other remote for that matter) to control my RCA 515 (5451 w/dish) DBS receiver. I've tried all the 4-digit codes (and then some) as well as the 'search the code' routine. All to no avail. All other components worked on first or second try.

Has anyone had any luck doing this? Does the newer, learning remote (7800) control the RCA DBS? I've even disabled the RF feature of the remote.

Help.

Doug...

This may seem like alot of truoble since you've already got a remote, but...

Email ONEforALL at [email protected]. Ask them which if any of their remote WILL work your DBS. Be sure to give them the manufacturer and model no. of the receiver. Then be patient. It often takes a week or so for them to respond, but they almost always do.

If they give you the name of a remote that supports your DBS, go out and buy that one. If they reply that none of their remote support your DBS then look for a different manufacturer.

I've been looking for the perfect remote that controls everything and makes breakfast too. I've found one that makes breakfast, but in 20 years of looking, not even my PRONTO has been able to control every A/V device. In summary... welcome to the club.

David,

Thanks for the reply. I already emailed Uiec with a specific inquiry. I will wait. The upside is that it is only a $17 remote and that Walmart has a really nice return policy.

What is puzzling is that the RCA DBS is one of the big three in DSS, along with SONY and Hughes. I find it quite odd that the remote cannot communicate with it. I have a 3 week old Toshiba 3109 DVD that worked on the first try. Weird.

I am beginning to believe that it is related to the fact that the DBS is called SAT2 since my upstairs DBS receiver is SAT1. After trying and trying, I got the upstairs DBS (SAT1) to at least turn on and off. One solution may be to switch the SAT assignments so that the Cinema 7 is being used with the SAT1. I don't know...
