OK, I hope the squeaky wheel theory works here. Dear UE, please lower the anticipated cost of the Mosaic. It MUST be lower than a Pronto or far better if it is to succeed! Now, the question for the brilliant masses out there. Will the Mosaic operate X10 appliances or other devices? Thanks a bunch! Ron

Regarding the price, I agree 100%. The current retail price of the Mosaic is almost exactly the same as the Pronto. I'm sure you can set up the Mosaic quicker than the Pronto, but you will hit the limits of how much you can customize it just as quickly.

Regarding X10, people often ask will this or that remote handle X10, and the asnwer almost always is YES, as long as you have an IR to X10 converter box (IR543 or 4040).

I see no problem with UEC charging what the product is worth. If it does the same thing as the Pronto does, why does it have to sell for less?

But it doesn't do the same thing as the Pronto, that's the point. You can't even hook it up to your PC at this time.

From what I hear the Mosaic is actually available -- for a bit more money than the Pronto. But then again the Denon Aktis is more expensive as well. Whether they like it or not, the Pronto is the current king of the roost and is what everything will be compared to. So, one must ask:

1) Does it have as many features as the Pronto.
2) Is it as customizable as the Pronto.
3) Is it as nice to use as the Pronto.
4) Is it worth more or less than the Pronto.

I have a Mosaic that I have been comparing to the Pronto. I have taken them both around the office and let people play with them both. Everybody likes the Pronto more. Even those who have never seen either one before. Here is a list of reasons why the Pronto is better.
1. Pronto is smaller
2. Pronto Looks better (my opinion)
3. Much harder to activate the Mosaic touch screen buttons. Plus, you can't "punch" at the buttons with your finger to activate them.
4. The hard buttons on the side of the Mosaic are not as easy to press as the Pronto's.
4. The Mosaic's backlight isn't as nice.
5. The Mosaic's display and the graphics aren't as nice.
6. The code library is nice but Pronto will have that soon.

At the same time I think the Mosaic will do just fine because it is cheaper and has a faster and easier setup. Like most things, people who learn the Mosaic first will like it better. But for those who like to tinker with gadgets, the Pronto is great fun.
