I went ahead and bought one of these and so far it is great! My only problem is that I can't get the codes for my Sony 600D DVD player to work.

On Rob's sites the codes to try are listed as 0193, 0201 and 0533. I also saw posted here that instead of 0533 to try 0553. None of these codes worked though.

I tried putting them in Device codes Aux2, VCR and CBL/SAT. What am doing wrong?

Here's the breakdown on the 4 codes you mentioned (using info that's on my devices page ...

0193 is not in the 1994, sorry to say
0201 is in the 1994, but's it's a laser disc code
0533 is in the 1994 and is a valid DVD code
0553 I've never heard of this code and don't believe it's a valid code.

When you say the codes don't work, do you mean that you were not able to program them, or do you mean that once programmed, they didn't operate your equipment. You will not be able to program 0193 or 0553 in the 1994, but you should be able to program 0201 and 0533.

Remember that the 1994 regards DVD codes as VCR codes, so if you don't want to program them on the VCR button, you need to use 992 to re-assign another device button to be the DVD button.

Like this....

[SETUP **] 992 ** VCR AUX1 **

Now the AUX1 button is your DVD button.

Thanks Rob. I'm not sure why the codes didn't take when I tried to put them into the VCR device button but I was able to get it to work when I copied it to AUX2.

Now onto my Tivo remote!

Just remember to save the learning memory for the TiVo, if there are any buttons missing from the other devices, program them using adv codes, not learning.

Rob.
