Why can't a mfg get a remote (programable, upgradeable, learning-like my Producer 8 with no buttons on the receiver....but controlled by a computer serial or usb) repackaged and something like the X10 FireCracker to control your A/V equipment?

After playing with the IR Commander, I find that basically this device seems to be something of that type. Only thing is...it won't control a receiver. Does anyone know of scrips or "advanced codes" for this device?

If no no no to all these questions, what's the cheapest device to control the AV equipment the will mate with HomeSeer and X10 equipment?
