I sent my URC-9800 in for upgrading because I told UE that I needed the device code for my Sony TiVo unit added.

They added both 0616 (which I have found out is the ReplayTV code) and 0618 (which apparently is the Philips TiVO code). Am I out of luck here or has someone gotten their Sony TiVo to work with the URC-9800?

I don't know what the right device code is for SOny TiVo, but I'm sure that UEIC has developed one. You need to call them up and figure out what the right code is and then send it back in to have it added. And make sure those other codes are removed first as they will be using up valuable advanced code memory. In fact, you can reset the remote to the factory setting yourself by using the service menu. I have instructions on how to unlock the service menu in the URC-9800 manual on my site.

BTW: If you do figure out the correct device code for SOny TiVo could you post it.

FYI: The new URC-8780 which is due out in November will have both Replay and TiVo device codes.

Has anyone gotten any further with this? I'd love to get my URC-9800 working with the Tivo. I've seen that people have been learning the Tivo keys to the Cinema 6. Would someone please be kind enough to explain to me how to record to other keys than the few provided? Is there an FAQ on this somewhere?
Thanx!

I have developed a code for the Sony TiVo which can be added to remotes like the Cinema 6/7 and 15-1994 but I haven't tried reformatting it for the Prod 8 yet.

To the best of my knowledge, UEIC hasn't created a Sony TiVo code yet.

I'd be happy to help work on the Prod 8 Tivo code, but I'd need some major assistance from you in how to get started. I have an IrDa device in my computer already, if that helps.
In the meantime, would you be kind enough to explain to me how to record to other keys than the few provided 'L' keys? Is there an FAQ on this somewhere?

Chris,
In order yo help, you would first need to build an upgrade bx and dump the memory of your remote, click on the link in the previous post for more info.

Unfortunately, with the Prod 8 you really can only learn to the dedicated learning buttons, it's a bad design but that's how it works.
