Hey all -

Rob, great site, I was hoping you or anyone else could answer this question. While I found the codes for the Cursor Up, down, etc. for the 0159 devices, I couldn't find any for the receivers using the 0158 code. I know they must exist becasue I used to have the OFA 8080 and the cursor keys worked great. Now I have the same reciever, but the 8800 won't accept the device code (it used to be 238) so I can't seem to get the cursor keys to work.

Thanks everybody.

Andy,
What you need to do is "mix & match" the codes. I'm guessing that the 0158 device will code will have the most pre-programmed buttons, so start off by programming your receiver device button to code 0159, then program the menu arrow buttons using the advanced codes. Program any other buttons that are found under 0159 while you're there, then reprogram the device key back to 0158 (the buttons that you programmed will stay there). If you need to program any buttons under the 0158 device code, go ahead and do it now.

If there are actually more buttons programmed correctly under 0159, then simply reverse the instructions that I just gave and program the 0158 buttons using adv codes, and then change the device to 0159.

If you don't want to leave the input selects on the number keys, you could pick a button that will be the input select button for all devices (one of the macro buttons might serve for this purpose) then program the advanced code for the input select under each of the device buttons. For instance, the code for CD select is 239 (from 0158), so you would 'key move' this code from the receiver device to the CD device and place it on the macro1 button. You would then repeat this for al the other input select codes, that way, no matter what device mode you are in if you press the macro1 button it will put your receiver in that mode. That way you can use the numeric buttons for the tuner.

The advanced codes for 0158/0159 are on my site.

Thanks Rob, thats kinda what I figured and tried that. But when I enter code 0159 in either the TUN device button or the AMP device button the 8800 says "Not found". Any thoughts on this?

Yeah, one of the things that's kind of a drag with the Prod 8 is that you need to know what the device code really is, code 0159 is a "Misc Audio" code, so when you're doing the device code setting process, you need to set the RCVR button to MISC.

Thanks again Rob,

It worked great, I mapped the AMP key to 159 (after switching to Misc Audio) and left TUN to 158 and everything sweems to work. One question though, can I key map from the misc audio (159) over to the TUN key so that Volume Lock will work in Homt Theater mode? I can try to clear this up if you need me to.

Sorry to keep buggin ya but you seem to know your way around these devices pretty well.

Thanks again,

Andy

It sounds like you've missed the point of what I meant by "mix & match", you have to use up two device keys to make it work.

Decide which buttons you need from the 0159 device and where you want to put them, then program the RCVR device button to 0159. Then program each of the functions onto the buttons where you'd like them to be, regardless of whether they appear on those very buttons anyway using 0159, then re-program the RCVR button to 0158 and the 0159 buttons will still be there. If there are some more buttons that can be found in 0158 that are not mapped, you can now program them too.

So, in the end, you should have everything you need on the one device key.

Thanks again..a little confused about one thing though, when you say RCVR button, do you refer to the AMP button..I have a TUN and an AMP...the 158 works on the TUN button but that button doesn't recognize the 159 code. The AMP button does though.

I forgot that they labelled the buttons that way, in OFA terms, receivers and tuners are the same thing.

Anyway, you can use whatever button for your receiver that you like, you could even use the TV buton if you so desired by remapping it using the MODEMAP function.

One way of doing the programming would be to code the TUN button to 0158 and the AMP button to 0159, then key move all the functions that you need from the AMP button to the TUN button.

Have you printed the URC-8800 manual from my site yet? There's alot of instructions in there that are missing from the original manual.

Rob.
