Browsing thru my local Best Buy, I noticed they had Cinema7's price reduced from 24.99 to 16.50. I don't know if this is nationwide, or just local due to competition. My Best Buy is in Iowa City. Check yours.

Beware. EVERY time when picking up a "price reduced" item at Best Buy, the item would ring up at full price at the register. I'm almost convinced this is intentional on their part, because most people don't check the prices as they ring up. If you're in a best buy, watch the prices ring up. If you call them on one, they're very nice to get a price check and change it, but you have to call them on it.

BTW, the Cinema7 mentioned above is the learning version.

David, my local Best Buy had the Cinema 7 marked "special" for that price and, when I took it to the register, it showed at $24.95. I told the cashier who acted as though I was lying. She called a "Floor Supervisor" who said that the special was for the "old model". After I tried to explain that it was, in fact, for the new Cinema 7 this moron told me that I didn't know what I was talking about. I should have pursued this but I decided that it's a lot easier to just never return to this crummy retailer. The same thing happened a couple of months ago when I bought a hard drive although that supervisor handled it properly. Never again!

Dan...

I'd go back, and take a printout of this message thread. Ask to talk the store manager and show it to him or her. Talk loud, so that other customers in the store can overhear you. Be sure and ask "Is it your POLICY or just your sloppy businees practice to mislead customers in this way?". They may not WANT to be nice to you, but this tactic usually gets me some satisfaction. When they ask you what you want, include "Some assurance that prices on the counter will be the same as prices at the cash register from now on.". Who knows, maybe you can convince them you won't take this scandal to the local news if they throw in free batteries for your $16.50 learning Cinema7 remote. Better yet, for your trouble, you buy the batteries and THEY throw in the remote. That would come close to being fair.

I've heard that Circuit City does, and Sears does.

I've actually looked for them at Target, ShopCo, Kmart, and Walmart with no luck. Walmart has had the Cinema6 in the past.

Jimbo:

I picked the Cinema6 at the new Walmart in Lynnwood. They didn't have the learning Cinema7 but thet did have the non-learning version for $16.95.

Ran into the same problem at Bestbuy about a month ago when they had the cinema 7 learning for $16.50. Didn't have a problem correcting it at the register though

I just picked up a Learning Cinema 6 for 20$ Canadian (roughly 14,00$ US) at a Price Costco
(Club Price) in the Montreal area. It is likely that other Costcos in North America carry it as well. Best remote I've ever owned, incidentally (I used to think my Sole Control SC-545 was just fine).
