I purchased this unit yesterday and I'm looking for the advanced codes for the following equipment. The URC-7560 (ie. one for 6)is a European model that is sold in Australia. I have been told that some codes are different between European and American supplied equpment.

Any codes or general advice from users on setting up this remote would be appreciated.

Manufacturer

Akai HiFi VCR VS-G2100
Panasonic HiFi VCR NV-HD630
Sony Receiver STR-GA8ES
Sony Dolby Digital Decoder SDP-EP9ES

Pioneer Laserdisc player CLD-515
Pioneer DVD player CLD-414

John,
You going to have to do some of the work here. Try out some of the device codes in the manual first please!

If the codes listed don't work then try a search. If you can't find a working code for a particular device then come back and ask here.

Once you have the device codes, check my web site to see if I already have the advanced codes.

Rob,

I've used the codes that they say to use in the manual (tried all for each catagory, ie. for instance all Pioneer, Sony, Panasonic, Akai combinations), all the components do work but only partially. I have already approached OFA for the advanced codes with no response yet. Also I tried the advance codes from your site following the correct procedure but they still didn't work.

For instance I have used code 0158 for my Sony receiver. Great the most of the buttons work such as volume on/off, and most of the input selection. But some buttons like the TV video input (pretty important) doesn't work, no sound fields etc. This is why I am looking for the advance codes.

I can obvously learn the commands, but based on the number of commands I need to learn I will run out of memory. Possibly I'm doing something stuppid. I was hoping on a quick answer from someone who has used this remote as I only hav a 7 day return policy on the product and I doubt if OFA will assist in this time.

As a last resort I will sistimatically try all combinations from 0 to 255 and see what happens. I was also hoping someone could give an answer to whether there is a difference between the codes for American and European equipment.

Regards,

John.

OK, as you mentioned the device code for one of the pieces of your equipment, I can help you with that one. The functionality for Sony receivers is split between AMP 0158 and AMP 0159, so you can use the codes for both. I can help with the other devices when you say what device codes you are using.

With some devices you will only get partial functionality so you will need to use advanced codes, are you saying that the codes for 0158 don't work for you?

As for searching for your own advanced codes, I suggest printing out the worksheet from my site as you are much more likely to find a bunch of codes in a row than if you simply go from 000 thru 255.

You should also print out the Cinema 7/15-1994 manual as most of it will apply to your remote.

The problem with code 0158 with the sony receiver is that it only gives me on/off, volume, mute, direct mode and all the inputs except the TV video input. I am looking for the TV input and the DSP arrow keys. Other functions would also be good but not assential.

Similar situation with my Pioneer 414 DVD player I used code 0525 and again only some of the key do anything or in somecases the wrong thing. For instance the arrow keys are acting as FF,RWD,Pause,Stop instead of menu arrow keys.

I actually received a call from the OFA distributor here in Australia and he will fax through a list tomorrow. He still hasn't received a reply from OFA in Europe though, and he said for me to try the codes first.

I will give it another go tonight and print off the the worksheet. When I receive the Advance codes from OFA I will compare them to others posted on your site.

The OFA distributor said that some of the codes for Equipment in Australia is different to that in the USA, do you know if this is actually the case?

John.

Rob,

I will try 0159 on the Sony receiver and see what function work with it. There was another code mentioned in the manual with the Sony receiver but it didn't work, I don't think it was 0159.

The code used for the panasonic VCR was 0162 and the Pioneer LD was 0059. I'll check on the other components, hopefully when I receive some information from OFA everything will be OK.

Regarding the Panasonic VCR, 0162 will only give you basic functionality, you won't get the menu arrow keys for example. You should also try 1062, 1162 and 1262 to see if any of those are a better fit. I have an exhaustive list of adv codes for the Panasonic on my site. If you try searching for adv codes for the Panasonic, some of them are in 0162 and some are in 0454.

Here are the VCR codes: [Link: stormloader.com]

Regarding the DSP fields on the Sony receiver, at this point you can't program them using an OFA remote. This is a known problem and I am working on getting codes for these. But even if the codes become available, where are you going to put them all? There's alot of them.

Here are the SONY codes:

Here are the codes for the DVD player: [Link: stormloader.com]

Remember this about remote signals, if you can get a few things to work using an OFA device code, then the chances are very good that the remaining functions can be created using the advanced codes for that device.
