Hi,

I just got my new Sony RPT and I was programming my Cinema 6 O4A remote. The special codes list I have doesn't have a Magic button combination for Video 4 or Video 5.

Can someone tell me if they are available?

I'm doing some macro programming.

Thanks,
David

If the listed codes for Video 1,2 & 3 work for you (ie, 546, 286 & 288), i would suggest trying the codes that immediately preceed them (in OBC order).

Try these... 540, 291, 543, 545, 285
or these... 429, 689, 687, 435, 684

Please let us know if you find codes that work.

Rob.

PS. if you're wondering where I got these, I got them from the worksheet in the advanced code section of my site.

Thanks Rob. I tried those codes but they didn't work.
Any other ideas?

Be aware that there might not be discrete codes for these input selections, but that being said, I would suggest that you do a manual search of all the advanced codes for your TV.

Print out the worksheet from my web site, the OBC/EFC x-ref sheet, and the official advanced code sheet for the TV.

Then write on the worksheet all the codes that you know that work (this is where the x-ref sheet comes in handy - it will help you find the code on the worksheet). You will notice that once you list the codes in OBC order (ie, write them on the worksheet) that they come in groups, but there will be gaps, try these codes first, then try the codes immediately before and after the groups of codes. Then if all else fails, just start from the top and work your way down the sheet.

I have a Sony TV, but it's an old one and only has one VIDEO input, so I can't test these for you.

I'm just going to go ahead and guess that there won't be any Video4, 5 or 6 discretes on oneforall remotes made in the '90s.

Why? Very few TVs had or needed that many inputs. Since it would have been impossible to know and include every possible command for every possible device they took the wise approach and covered about 90% of the most popular devices out there and the 9 out of 10 most likely commands. Franky I'm impressed that there are discretes for video1, 2, and 3 on sony TVs. Other TV makes aren't nearly as well supported.

Since your Cinema6 supports macros on (just about) any key, you might be able to make an effective discrete for video4 and 5 by simply beginning with the video3 discrete and following with one or two TV/VIDEO toggles.

Rob...

It gets incredibly simpler to understand and figure out advanced codes when they are reduced to their base 000 to 255 number. For example, 546, 286 & 288 video input discretes make more sense as 290 (549-256), 286, and 288. The clustering is much more apparent. I know YOU understand this, but I think it would help all the new users trying to grasp the concept if the confusion of apparently random code numbering is simplified to the sanity of a 000 to 255 list. I know it's pain in the butt to sit there with a calulator and convert a whole list from ONEFORALL, but it makes incredible sense to do so.

Thanks for listening.

Dave
