Hi,
I am kind of new to the world of Universal remotes, but I have decided to get the 15-1994. It programmed my TV, and VCR with no problem at all, but I have not been able to get my 5-discs Sony C600D DVD player and my kenwood 1070 VR receiver to work at all. I've tried all the codes from the manual (almost all kenwood and sony codes!) as well as the ones provided from [Link: stormloader.com]. I even tried the "search" function and still no luck at all. Any suggestion or actual code that i can try? Thanks in advance

I finally get my Sony DVD player to work using code 0533, but I guess I have to use 992 to make AUX1 a VCR device button.. But anyway, I am still having no luck with the receiver. any help?

For more information, all the kenwood codes I tried gave me a long brink except 0028, but then it still didn't respond to power, or anything else as a matter of fact.

I have a Kenwood 8080 and it responds to 0027, 0028, 0313, and 0314. The trouble with the 15-1994 is that the 313 and 314 aren't in the remote. So any functions that you can't find in 0027 adn 0028 will have to just be run by doing the learn function from your original remote.

I just checked to see if the 0028 does power on my 8080 and it does.

Don't be disappointed about the use of learning for your programming. There is plenty of learning memory in the remote.

Ming,
I can confirm what Marty says. It seems that Kenwood receivers fall into two categories. The older ones seem to respond to AMP/0027 and CD/0028 and the newer ones (like the VR-309) respond to AMP/0313. Both sets of receivers have extra functions that can be found in device AMP/0314. Like Marty said, the 313 and 314 codes were dropped from the 15-1994, but they are in the Cinema 7.

I asked the folks at UEIC about this and they said that Radio Shack asked them to include a bunch of extra codes to support Optimus brand items, and in order to make room, some codes had to be dropped, and I guess Kenwood drew the short straw.

In order to get your 15-1994 to work with your Kenwood receiver, you will probably have to learn the functions. I have found that using a short burst of the original remote will let you get more commands in the 15-1994 when learning Kenwood commands (ie, don't hold the original remote button down until the light blinks - the way the manual tells you to do it).

Hope this helps,
Rob.

I have given all the suggestions a try, but still no luck. I've tried 0027, 0028, as well as both the 313 and 314, only 0027 gave me 2 blinks, the rest just gave me a long blink. This is the process I've tried:

AUX2, hold P till blinks 2 then punched in the 4 digits then try to use the power to turn off my 1070 VR receiver.
Anymore help? Please pardon my ignorance, but how can my remote "learn" to power on/off the device from my old remote (other than using smart keys i assume), if it's actually possible

Thanks again for your help

Ming,
Have you actually printed out the manual for the 15-1994 from my site? I can tell by some of your questions that you haven't.

Regarding the codes, you need to be aware of what *kind* of device code you are trying to enter. 0027 is an AMP code, so the AUX2 button is the right kind of device, but 0028 is a CD code, so you would need to enter this on a CD button. If the POWER button under 0027 works, then CD/0028 will also work, if it doesn't then neither will 0028. In this case it sounds like you need AMP/0313 and AMP/0314, which as we previously stated ARE NOT in the 15-1994 as was confirmed when you tried to enter them anyway.

Regarding learning, you can learn to almost any button on the remote (as it says in the on-line manual). But there is limited memory on the 15-1994, so it pays to be careful how you learn the commands. If you hold the button down on your irignal remote until the 15-1994 blinks twice, then you won't get as many commands learned as if you follow my previous suggestions and only use a short burst of the original remote.
