I've just had an amazing brainwave! I've just figured out how to make the 15-1994 a SEVEN device remote!!!!

Program a regular device key with the right code for your equipment, and then move all the functions to the "Plug & Power" button, or learn them there.

Obviously this is going to use up alot of your programming memory, but if you are thinking of setting up a device for something like Replay TV where you're going to have to learn all the functions anyway, or if you're setting up the remote to handle the Apex DVD player, where you're going to have to program all the buttons indivually anyway, then it's totally worth it.

If you are using the P&P button for your X10 equipment, then you already have a seven device remote.

FYI: If you want to use this feature for the Apex, here's an example of the commands you would need to do:

1. Set up the TV button to device 0030.
2. Then move the codes like this:

Press "Plug & Power"
Press and hold SETUP (two blinks)
Type 994 (two blinks)
Press TV, SETUP, 052, POWER (two blinks)

(This will move the TV adv code 052 to the POWER button under p&p)

Cool eh?

OK, I can now go one better that that. I have just figured out how to make the 15-1994 a seven device remote without doing any fancy programming!

I was setting up my X10 stuff today and it occurred to me that the Cinema 7 uses the CD button to control X10 stuff, so I wondered if the Radio Shack CD button would also work, and it does. Which lead me to wonder if the 'Plug & Power' buttonis really a CD button, and guess what, IT IS!

So, now you can make your Radio Shack remotes into seven device remotes without doing all the fancy programming that I mentioned earlier by simply using the P&P button as your CD button and re-using the CD button for something else.

Viola!
Rob.

PS. This actually applies to any R/S remote that has a 'Plug & Power' button, not just the 15-1994.

Hey Rob,

I like the second idea better than your first idea!!! A stroke of genius.

Hey Marty,
Idea #2 can certainly help everyone out, but if you have to use adv codes or learning to set up your gear anyway (like with the Apex or ReplayTV) then you might just as well put it on the P&P button.

I might just have found out yet ANOTHER little secret of this remote. I took mine apart today just to see what was inside and there's an RF modulator in there! So, my guess is that the 15-1994 will work with the base unit that comes with the 15-1995 and URC-9800 remotes. I don't have one around at the moment, so I can test this out, but when I do I'll post the results.

Unless there's someone out there who has the 15-1994 and a 15-1995 or Producer 8 model URC-9800 who can test it for me.

Rob.
