I have tryed this and it works (4700 series reciever)
Heres the steps to controling your DishNet RF Reciever with the AV/Home Producer. It worked for me with a model 4720 reciever and AV producer 8.

First on the regular Dishnetwork remote press menu and go to diagnostics (Should be in System Setup) than when your there press info-browse-theme and you should enter a hidden menu (DO NOT FOOL AROUND IN HERE!!! YOU COULD SERIOUSLY DAMAGE YOUR RECIEVER'S SOFTWARE!!!)

Press TV/Video and a message box should come up stating that all non volital memory has been cleared (Meaning stuff like timers and Locks) and you need to unplug the reciever. Unplug the reciever for a least a minute and than plug it back in and let it reset its self.

Your remote address should now be reset to 1 (RF Remote Address) now on your AV/H Pro. 8 follow the directions in the remotes manual for setting up the remote to work with a dish network (IR) Reciever.

By reseting the reciever you reset the remote address to 1 and activated the IR part of the reciever (the remote should still work, if not follow the directions in the dnet manual for setting the remote to remote address 1) THIS DOES NOT DISABLE RF CAPABILITY IT ONLY ENABLES THE IR CAPABILITY

Note: It is NOT my fault if this messes up your reciever. Try this at your own risk. Any damage done is not my fault. I have only posted this because it worked for me and could be helpful.

Hey Matthew,
Once you had done all of this, what device code did you use on the Prod 8, and how well were the functions mapped out? Did you need to program any advanced codes?

Rob.

Mat,
I tried this on a model 4000 and it did not screw up anything but it did not work. Do you have any insight as to what I can do to get the dish network model 4000 to do what you have done with the 4700.
WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE IT!

4000 model won't work until you add an IR receiver. Go to [Link: carltonbale.com] for easy to follow directions.
