I tried the codes for DVD listed in the original manual hoping one would work but no luck. Any chance of a device code that would get most of the functions so I only have to learn a few? I haven't done JP1 so am hoping that isn't the only answer besides learning all the buttons.

I have done a bit more digging and it looks like none of the built in codes will work. So I am down to learning all the keys (not going to do that) or JP1. Think I will be doing JP1. I don't find a file for the bluray model. Anyone that can comment on which one might be the closest or best to try?

The UEI setup code is Video 1516, and as you say, the 15-100 doesn't have this code. The hifi-remote.com site has about a dozen Sony BluRay upgrades (all very similar) in the File Section, but the 15-100 doesn't have a JP1 connector--just some holes in the PCB.
I recommend buying a RCA RCRP05B (<$20) or even better an OneForAll  OARUSB04G. This latter remote is programmable directly using a standard USB micro cable.  The JP1 software (RMIR) supports this remote, not that you're likely to need to customize it.

To add a little to what 3FG said, while it's possible to add a JP1 connector to the 15-100 (I've done it a few times myself), it is quite challenging. Much easier to simply learn the few commands you need (you don't need numbers, only playback, arrows and menu commands) or replace the remote with a newer model as 3FG said.

All Sony BD players use the same codes, so pick any file you like. The BX58 file would be an exact match. Later ones (X90, X100, X200, etc.) might possibly have a few additional commands.
