I am trying to set my Panasonic DVD player to region free and the instructions include programming IR 00F2 onto a URC. The instructions to program 00F2 on a URC requires a Magic button. I have a ONN 8 Function URC but there is no Magic button on this remote. Is there a way to do this with this remote or do I need a different one?

Any help would be appreciated.

Only remotes made by UEI can use advanced codes for individual functions.

Newbie here. Any particular UEI remotes that I could purchase to do this?

Also appreciate any instructions to program 00F2 code.

Thanks much.

You don't use 00F2 in a UEI made remote. What you use 5 digit advanced code (EFC).

For Panasonic see this thread;

A good UEI remote is RCA RCRP05BR.

Hi Edmund, Here's part of the instructions to program the 5 digit advanced codes (EFC), following the link you pointed to in your reply.

1. hold magic button until the DVD button lights up and stays lit
2. press 994 (DVD button blinks twice)
3. press magic
4. enter 0 0 1 9 1
5. press #1 key, the light blinks twice.
Repeat for other advanced codes.

However when I check the manual of the RCA RCRP05BR online - [Link: voxxintlcorp.com] -
I don't see the Magic button on the remote. Am I missing something or is there an alternate button on this remote for the 'magic' button.

Thanks.

EU remotes use Magic key, while North American UEI remotes use SET, SETUP, or with radio shack P. Just substitute SET for Magic.
