Hi There, I would appreciate some guidance if anyone can help.

I have a Hisense V88 Series Digital TV (nothing else attached, just the TV)

Several days ago after being away several weeks it wasn't working properly. I changed the batteries to find a little white corrosion in there, cleaned it up with white vinegar as suggested for cleaning and sort of worked a few times then didn't at all.

I went and bought a One for all Universal Replacement remote and tried all the codes supplied for the brand of TV. Some worked but only allowed me to work the on and off function, I could not change channels, volume or anything else for that matter. I tried the auto search too, same thing.

Last night, my Hisense remote started working again..........Problem is now I have changed the code, it is now not working to turn TV off and on.

Thus I have one remote works for on and off. (The One For All remote)
The Hisense remote is working for channel changing volume and sleep timer and everything else etc ???

How can I either get the old Hisense back to working fully so will turn on and off as well or get the new universal one to work for all functions ?/

Any help would be appreciated.

Kind Regards
Shari

Well, start by telling us the brand and model of the Universal Remote, and the partially functioning setup code.  If the universal is really made by OneForAll, we'll be able to get it to control all the TV functions.

Hi and thankyou..........I couldn't find the model number on the box when I posted originally. Just checked the manual though so here it is........

One For All Model Number - URC-1629

2341 code worked but only to turn on and off...There were 2 others that worked too, if you need me to, will go through all again and tell you the others...Let me know if you need that.

I am hoping to work out the sleep function too as there doesn't seem to be one on the One for All remote like on the Hisense..

Thanks ahead....

The URC-1629 appears to be used in Foxtel  setups.  I don't have a list of setup codes for it, but TV 2341 shoots the NEC1 IR protocol, device 0.191.  TV 1363 and 2098 are other possibilities.

You can search for the correct function numbers-- there are 256 possible EFCs ranging from 00000 to 00255.  It doesn't take as long as it might seem.  Here's how to try:
Use the 2341 setup code and for each test:
1)Press Magic (the button you would use to change setup codes).  Don't hold it.
2) Enter a test EFC, holding the 5th digit.  The remote will send an IR signal.
If the TV responds, write down the EFC you entered and the function it performed.
To verify that the procedure is correct try this with EFC 00056.  I think that should toggle the Power, but I could be wrong.

This procedure should work for many functions, but for example you may need to be in menu mode before the arrow commands will do anything.  So it may take a couple of passes to find everything.

You can semi-permanently assign these EFCs to buttons of your choosing:
1) Press Magic until 2 blinks
2) Enter 994 (2 blinks)
3) Tap Magic again (don't hold it)
4) Enter the 5 digit EFC
5) Tap the button you'd like to perfom this function.
The remote should blink twice.
