I'll assume that your player or remote is a HDP-R1 (or R3). Hifi-remote.com has an upgrade file for this player, but unfortunately it is the NEC1 IR protocol, device 108.104.

I do not believe that there is any OneForAll setup code which shoots this device number, so it apparently isn't possible to manually program the remote for the HDP-R1. The 7960 is a new remote, and we don't have exact iformation about it, so I suppose that it is possible that it does have an appropriate setup code.

You can buy or make a JP1 cable, and then upload the upgrade to your remote (assuming it has a 6 pin header in the battery compartment). A USB interface cable costs $30 US.

Or, if you get a remote that can accept Pronto Hex format, we can tell you the various Hex codes to make it work.

Hello, and thank you for your speedy reply!

Yes, you're right, the remote was for a HDP-R1.

I'm a newbie at this remote stuff, so i asked at a local store about a remote that would work with an Asus o!play and they sold me this telling me that it would certainly work.
Well i was cheated. I've just received an email from OneForAll support and they confirmed that they don't have a code for the o!play.

I guess i will return this remote and try to get my money back.

Can you please advise me in a remote that might work with the o!play (preferably not very expensive)?

Thank you for your help.

Not much to suggest...
Perhaps a used Logitech Harmony would be cheap enough (probably not). Then we could supply you with the Pronto Hex codes, you could email these to Logitech, and they probably would load your remote with the codes. Actually, the codes might already be in their database.

Again, thank you for your help!

I have managed to borrow an O!play remote and copied all the buttons to my All For One urc-7960.

Is there any way i can find the codes used? Can I make a backup from the buttons copied?

I have checked and the urc-7960 does have the 6 pins.

I guess I wasn't clear earlier. The IR signals used by the O!play are already known and available at hifi-remote.com. Your learned signals are potentially valuable to check the accuracy and completeness of what is already supposed to be known.

Probably you can use a JP1 inteface cable to read your learned signals, and you can then use IR.exe to decode those signals. Then (probably) you can upload the an upgrade into the 7960 which will have its own special setup code.

However, the 7960 is a new remote, and that means we don't know for sure if it uses the standard interface.

I recommend that you post in the Beginners forum at hifi-remote.com. Also read  "Beginners-- read this thread first".  That's where the JP1 community experts hang out, and you'll get better and more complete advice there.

Basically you'll need to either buy or make a cable, download free software, and read the data from the remote.  SInce the 7960 is new, we'll probably have to make a Remote Definition File (RDF) in order for you to upload an upgrade.  You'll get help in doing that.
