Hi,

I have the following equipment and want to use URC-10820 to control them:

Sharp Aquos LCD TV - LC-46D64U
Sony Blue Ray DVD Player - BDP S-350
Sony DVD Player - DVP-NS77H
AT&T Cable Box - Motorola VIP1225 (X13-42894)
Sony Amplifier - STR-DE845 (STR-DE945)
Samsung LCD TV - LN40A500T1F

I need to know if this particular URC-10820 remote would work for the above equipment and also which button is the magic button for this remote?

Also do I need to buy anything else other than just the remote itself to make everything work?

I would appreciate your response and thank you in advance.

Regards
Learner

There are two models of the 10820, and they have different collections of setup codes. Please use the 983 command to blink back the signature of the remote. See the 983 entry in the 9XX Command instructions near the end of the first post.

The signature should either be 1178 (the newer 10820N) or 1063 (the older 10820B00).

The Magic button is called Set and is in the lower right hand corner.

Thanks much, but what does it mean when you say signature? I'm a total newbie at the URCs. I would buy 10820N as it is the latest and will have all the codes. Thanks!

Sorry, I thought you already owned the remote, and I wanted to find out which version. So there is no need to check the signature (nor can you without the remote!)

I'll try to reply tonight if a 10820N can control all of your equipment.

By the way, it is confusing, but the 10820 is a OneForAll remote, made by UEI (Universal Electronics, Inc), and not a remote made by URC (Universal Remote Corp.)

Here are the setup codes.  We know all of the function numbers for these components except the VIP1225 cable box, so it is possible to add discrete codes to the remote.

Sharp Aquos LCD TV - LC-46D64U TV 0818
Sony Blue Ray DVD Player - BDP S-350 Video 1516
Sony DVD Player - DVP-NS77H Video 1533
AT&T Cable Box - Motorola VIP1225 (X13-42894) Cable 0858
Sony Amplifier - STR-DE845 (STR-DE945) Audio 1058 (and others)
Samsung LCD TV - LN40A500T1F TV 0812

The Sony receiver has many functions not included in the remote, but we know the EFCs for all of them, and you can manually program any function you need to a button.
