i have raioshack 5-in-one remote. using with a sharp vcr vc-H965 which i can't fin a manual for. anyway when setting timer record instructions on tv display says to hit set button in order to enter settings. this remote oes't have a set button. if i just turn the vcr off as some vcr's call for an there set to recordwhen i turn back on the settings an correct time are gone. any suggestions would be appreciated.

I assume that you are using Video 0048. The EFC for Set is 200, and most remotes have that on Enter or OK or Select.

You can assign this EFC to any button by making sure that you have pressed the VCR device mode button and then:

1) Press Setup until 2 blinks
2) Enter 994 (2 blinks)
3) Press Setup briefly
4) Enter 200
5) Press the button that you want to provide the Set function.

The remote will blink twice if this is accepted.

thanks for quick reply. i forgot to try the enter or select buttons when setting timer record. i presse select to enter time an it locked it in. tryed the 200 code that worke to.guess i'm set to go. thank's again for your help. i'll be closing this post now.
