Sony Blu-Ray players use the Sony 20 IR protocol, with device 26, subdevice 226. The URC-7556 was designed before this combination of device/subdevice was put into use, so it isn't capable of sending these signals, nor can it accept EFCs to make it work.

You could replace it with URC-8820N or 10820N (but make sure the suffixx is N and not B00), or RCA RCRP05B, using setup code Video 1516.

Or you could by a JP1.2/3 USB cable ($30) and upload the required protocol to the remote.

Be careful about Sony universals. It might seem that those remotes would have the Blu-Ray setup built in, but that is only true of the very recently announced RM-VZ220/320 (featured in the news at the left of this page.)

Thanks for your help, as I said it is much appreciated.

Now I remember why I don't like Sony very much!

One For All could upgrade it for you. Contact Customer Service (should be listed in the manual), and they can advise.

Hope this helps.
