I need a remote that will allow to access the menu features of this machine. I lost the factory remote sometime ago, and I use a One For All URC 4640 to control it now. However, it only allows me to control the VCR functions and none of the DVD or menu functions. I can access the menu screen, but I can't select any of the options or give commands. And any RCA RCR remote that I've used doesn't seem to work with it.

What do I need?

Btw, I'm using VCR code 0000.

Also, when I hit the DVD device key and use the same code it let's me use the VCR functions, but I can't switch between DVD and VCR; the factory remote had a button for such an action. And still, I cannot use the menu.

The 0000 code is the same, regardless of whether it's assigned to the VCR or DVD device button. I don't have any info on Emerson DVD/VCR combo units, so I don't know what code(s) you need for the extra buttons.

Unfortunately, the URC-4640 can't handle advanced codes, so even if the missing buttons come from the same setup code, you can't use advanced codes to program them.

Code # 20675 worked perfectly for me for using this same combo device. (DirectTV)

lootninja,
Would you mind verifying the exact model number of your Emerson combo? 20675 (Video 0675) is used with some Emerson equipment, but the OP said Video 0000 worked partially with his EWD2004. These are completely different IR protocols, so either Emerson has changed IR receivers without changing the model number, or perhaps you and the OP don't really have the same model combo unit.

Thanks!
