I am having problems using my one for all 8200 to program discreet keys. i think it is because i have overwritten my tv numeric buttons to control the cable box so that my husband and 4 year old don't accidently use the tv buttont to change channels which switches the input and gets them to a point of no return. Now when i try to do discreet on and off my number keys arent for the tv. my thought is to use a second remote to program all the discreet codes for tv, blu ray etc and then learn them to an unused device key on the remote we use, the one for azll. my question is: Can I program this second remote and then learn all the discreet keys that i have made to my one for all under the same device (for example the aux device so they are somewhat burried and wont get hit by mistake too often. i ma not sulre if the device code has to be set to the right kind of device when the keys are learned. they will be from idfferent components but i would like to put them under one unused device. Also, does anybody know of a good inexpensive remote to use for this. wher to buy or does anyone have one to sell, it seems i bought one thru this site years ago, thanks.

You should still be able to program the discretes as long as you press the correct device button (tv, aux, etc.) before you enter the code and before you press the button you are programming. You could get something like a radio shack 15-133 for programming/teaching if you want. It will work the same as your 8200, just using 5 digit codes instead of 3 (add 0 0 to your 3 digit codes). But I didn't think the 8200 was a learning remote.
