How much better is the producer 8 than the cinema 7? I've been playing with a cinema 7 for a few days, but was thinking about getting the producer 8 for the backlighting and the home theater mode.
Can someone tell me how well these two features of the producer 8 work. Does the producer 8 have the same programming capabilites of the cinema 7, like ability to program almost all buttons etc...

Thanks
Kevin

I have read here that the Producer 8 will not learn to all the keys like the Cinema 7 can.

If backlighting is important to you, you may try out Radio Shack's new remote (Model 15-1994). I decided to go with it over the Cinema 7 due to the backlighting and the more impressive appearance. Programming on it is identical to the Cinema 7, with a few exceptions.
1) The volume punch through on the RS only works with the TV. But I just remapped/learned the Receiver volume buttons to the other device's volume buttons. This eats up some memory, but I am not pushing the memory limits anyway.
2) The RS does not have dedicated device buttons for the Receiver and DVD. I am using the AUX1 button for the Receiver and AUX2 for the DVD.

Other than that, the internals are pretty much identical.

Give it a try. They have a 30 day return policy so if you don't like it you can just return it.
