The only pioneer code that accepts Advanced codes, is AMP cod 0013. Which isn't in the 6960. Its in the following remotes, 6820, 8820, 10820, and 6690.

when i sent one for all a email, they sent me a list of advance codes for 1023, and i got most my features to work, just can find out witch one would be the one for system set up, here ill post them

Hello,

Thank you for your response.

I have included the advanced codes below for your code 1023. I looked through them, and there is no actual menu function, so that may be why it is not working. If you are unable to get it to work, you may need one of the other codes below. If you only get one single blink, then the code is not in the memory, and you would need to mail it in to be upgraded. You may also want to try the learning feature. If you need those instructions, please let me know.

Programming advanced codes on to a key:

1. Press and hold SETUP until the two bottom IR segments flash twice.
2. Press OTHER one time.
3. Pres the numbers 9-9-4.
4. Press a desired source device (i.e. TV, VCR, etc).
5. Press SETUP one time and let it go.
6. Press in your five digit advanced function code.
7. Press the desired destination device (i.e. TV, VCR, etc).
8. Press the desired destination key.
9. Exit programming by pressing the Home key once.

Is there a way to get to the system set up menu using the original remote that came with the VSX-D9085?

If so, why can't you use learning?
If not, how do you know a system set up menu exists?

I looked in CCF files for similar models and saw lists of signals learned from buttons on the original remote, but especially without knowing the name of the button I was looking for, there was no easy way to search. Glancing though a few lists, I saw nothing that looked like a system set up button.

BTW, Edmund usually remembers, at least much better than I do, which models take 3 digit advanced codes, vs. which models take ONLY 00 in front of a 3 digit advanced code, vs. which models can ALSO take true 5 digit advanced codes.

Audio/1023 doesn't work with 3 digit advanced codes. So in most models of remote it simply doesn't work with advanced codes. Apparently the 6960 can take true 5 digit advanced codes as well as 00 in front of 3 digit advanced codes.

If I knew where to find the signal you want in any other format (Pronto or LIRC, MX, etc.) I probably could translate it to 5 digit advanced code. But without knowing what the signal is called I can't do any automated search.

BTW2, the CCF files I looked at had an S at the end of similar model numbers, rather than a 5. Does your model number really end in 5?

This is the first evidence I have had that previous two-byte setup codes will accept advanced codes at all, being 3 digit, 3 digit plus two zeroes,or whatever. I tested these codes on urc-10820 and they work on that remote as well. Of course it didn't work AUD 1023 in a 6131 remote.

Try 37144 for "Menu/System Setup".

That is from a list in a file Rob posted.

I guess I know a bit less about how 5 digit EFC numbers work than I thought, because I can't match any in the list in this thread to any in the list Rob posted even though they are supposed to be basically the same list.

I'll try to find time to experiment later with my 8820. Hopefully the 5 digit EFC numbers in the 8820 are the same as in the 6960.

thanks for all the help guys, i tried that 37144 code and it didnt work, and no i dont have the original remote, but i went to the pioneer web site, and i dowloaded the manual for it, and it says to setup what size speakers, speaker delay, channel level, chrossover network ect. u need to go to the system setup menu, and i need this so then instead of sending the low bass threough the front speakers, i want it to go through the powerd sub i have and to do that, i need to set my front speakers to small, so anyone know a way to do that with out using a remote maybe?? and on the remote, the actual name of the button was "system setup" thanks again

Sorry I haven't had time to investigate.

I think the remote you have is as good as any for this task. The issue is figuring out the right advanced code.

Rob probably knows this better than I do. He often doesn't read this forum, so you might want to ask for help with "5 digit EFC numbers for Audio/1023" in Rob's forum at
[Link: hifi-remote.com]

And be sure to include a link back to this thread so he won't need to re ask anything already discussed here.

That will probably get Rob's attention or maybe some other expert who understands the 5 digit EFC numbers as they relate to Pioneer receivers.

The EFC5 codes need to be MODded with 65,536 (ie, 256 squared) to get to the base code. I ran the codes that Alex posted through my EFC5 decoder spreadsheet to get the true hex codes, and then I converted the hex back to the original OBC and OBC2 codes along with the device code indicator.

I then compared this list with the current Pioneer master list and there is alot of overlap, but there's also alot of functions on both lists that aren't on the other, which is interesting.

The resulting spreadsheet is here...

ON my 20 year old pioneer receiver all the keys needed were on the front panel, on my 7 year-old D711 model all I needed were the cursor keys. The above codes don't match the cursor commands my receiver uses. I suggest going to radio shack, pick up the 15-135 for $15, use pioneer setup code AUD 30013, and the following advanced codes:

right- 00191
left- 00195
up-00189
down- 00193

to map them to keys on the 15-135:

1. aud
2. press and hold P for two blinks
3. enter 9 9 4
4. tap P for one blink
5. enter 5 digit advanced code
6. pick a key

If you can use other money to get the 15-135, do. keep both remotes for now, see if the codes work on your model, then pick which one to keep for good. I personally don't like the 15-135, but it is the cheapest and easiest to get with codes you need.
