Last year I bought the 15-2146 Voice Setup Remote. It's been a great remote, but just tried to get the new Xbox 360 to work with it and naturally it won't work. I'm wondering if it would be better to get the JP1 pogo pin adapter and try to re-program it or just get a new/different remote? I've never tried connecting a remote to a PC to re-program it, but I'm sure I can manage. As for buying a new remote, $20 is about what I want to spend(hard to convince to wife). However, it needs to have the exact same functionality as the 15-2146(minus the voice setup) and work with my Xbox 360. Thanks in advance for any advice you guys give.

Did you try device code 1972 for either DVD or VCR device? I've read that remote is probably not JP1 compatible.

If you were to get a JP1 remote, it's not difficult to use at all. Mostly, you'd be downloading the set up file of the device you have, or model close to it, and maybe changing some keys around to suit you and the upload that to the remote. There are some more advanced functions, but you don't have to use it and you can get in to it slowly if you want.

Thanks for the replies guys. I had found the 1708 code earlier, but tried using it on AUX or VCR and it wouldn't work. I've already done a lot of customization on DVD and didn't want to overwrite it. I did try the 1972 on VCR and it worked. Thanks! If I knew that 1708 would definitely work on DVD I might do that. All depends on the differences between 1708 and 1972. I'll do some searching, but if somebody could do a quick comparison that would be nice.

Did some searching and couldn't find where the 1708 was supported on my remote. Also, couldn't find anything really on what remotes supported code 1708. Anyway, tested 1972 and it seems to do just basic navigation and control. More than likely I'm going to need to buy a newer remote to get the functionality I want. Any suggestions? Here's my setup:

Sanyo HT32744 32" 4:3 HDTV CRT
RCA RT2360 Receiver
Xbox
Xbox 360

I'll want to support all 4 devices on one remote.

Your remote is not JP1 capable. You either have to learn the Xbox or buy a new remote.
This link will have capable remotes in your price range:

I hate to drag up such an ancient thread, but I'm having trouble using either of these codes with my remote. DVD 1971 and VCR 1708 results in a "sorry, please try again" as soon as I punch in the last digit.

Does anybody have any advice for what to do about this?

Thanks!

Maybe. What remote do you have, and are you trying to program for a Xbox 360, and not the original Xbox?
