I have recently purchased the Akai 42" Plasma Monitor, model # PDP-4273M. There have been a few threads posted about the inability to program other remotes with this tv, and I am in search of the same information. Is anyone aware of a remote that gives a code that will work? I have Direct TV, and they give 5 codes, and none work, and it also has not worked from trying the search for code option. Any help would be appreciated.

I have the PDP-4225M and I have Comcast Cable. Cable remote only offers 2 codes but neither work with mine Either.

In the JP1 file area, there appear to be 17 different code sets for Akai TV's (more than 17 upgrade files are there, but some duplicate code sets).

I don't know which of those might work on whichever Akai you have (the first two posters gave model numbers. I do know which code set works on the 4273).

But I also don't know which code sets are present in the DirecTV remote.

If you had a JP1 remote and JP1 cable, all this would be easy. But without that, I'll guess you'll have to hope someone who knows more about the DirecTV remote answers.

I have been able to program my Akai 42" plasma TV. I bought a One for All remote control URC10820B00 for $30.00. I have not been able to use any code in the user manual or program it in TV, AUX, etc buttom. However, I used the learning way to assign the code from my AKAI tv to one buttom on mu One for all remote control. I'm now able to use the One for all remote to On/off my TV. So, i assigned my AKAi to AUX1 but used the zero (0) keypad buttom in learning way to on / off my TV.

I really like this remote control. Not too expansive, easy to use and several ways to program buttom using learning. The same buttom can be used for different use depending if you want to control your DVD, your VCR. etc.

I hope it can help you. Maybe you cna try the same thing wit another remote with learning function?

I have an AKAI 4225M plasma monitor and I'd like to be able to control it with the Comcast Remote. However, the 2 codes they provide don't work and I was unable to discover a good code using the Comcast search procedure.

Could you plan either send me the 17 codes you know of or tell me where on can find them on the internet. I'm not a remote control expert.

Those codes I mentioned are not something you can use without a JP1 connection to the remote. They are files of data that can be loaded into some models of remote with an appropriate cable.

If I recall correctly, some models of Comcast remote are compatible with a JP1.2 cable. So if you have such a model and you get the cable, then you could load and test each of those 17 code sets.

I found the solution. I have an Akai 42" lcd, u-verse cable & panasonic 7600 surround system. I bought a universal remote URC-R6 at walmart for $19. It works on all my systems. I had to use the "learn" method but I have full control with 1 remote. I hope this helps.
